There is a system the same as that but designed to fit the Lucas distributor on the coil ign 88/99/650 std .sold in the uk for about £40 . I bought one but for some reason could not get it to work on my 99. Fitted a Boyer booster instead so still have to (very rarely) clean the points .

I made one for my Triumph with Toyota 22R distributor parts. You machine the lucas points cam down to a light press pit with the Toyota reluctor, then grind off two of the four lobes on it them assemble things with the toyota pickup assembly mounted on the points plate. .. You can use this trigger assembly to drive a 4 pin style GM HEI ignition module wired to a double ended 12 volt coil(or Lucas 6 volt coils in series).

Here's a photo of Mikes adapted Toyota ignition system, uses a coil with dual outputs. This is the kind of DIY ingenuity I like to see.

I once used a similar system on a two-stroke racer. It was off a Chrysler V8. So it could handle plenty of sparks. It had a large ballast resistor in front of the control unit.

These days, If I was starting again with my Seeley 850 , I would adapt an ignition system off a VT750 Honda - you can buy them for less than $100. It has the advance curve built in. But the trigger is near the engine sprocket and I use a floating single row sprocket.
