Should I close the pub?

I don’t think there’s a single guy here that has’nt been triggered and responded accordingly🤣. So, not really something that ‘other’ forum members are doing. But hey, it’s the pub and it’s the only one in town so why would ya want to close it?

For a bit of balance - I guess people should be able to visit the pub for the content they enjoy, without constantly coming across content that breaches the rules by which we all enter.

I guess those people more easily offended could just ignore what are clearly going to be contentious subjects, or block those members they find particularly offensive. Personally, that’s part of the content that draws me in - where would we be without debate and the exchange of opinions? We’d all still be driving a horse and cart!;)

It's just like a real pub we all go there to enjoy the company of friends and mates over a quiet drink or two, but every pub has one who likes to be louder than the others or push their views onto others and not be interested in another's views and of course if it persist that's where things start to go down hill fast, a fight will break out and the poor old bouncer or manager gets involved and then the trouble makers get kicked out (locked thread in our case) but the people involved in the dispute keep it up in other places out side the pub (in other threads in our case) and will never give up till they get bared in most cases or a time period of absent from the group.
I feel for Jerry being the manager and Les being the bouncer to keep things the way it should be, a happy place to help one another, we all have our own opinions and we all don't have to agree in what's been said/written and to agree to disagree and walk on don't keep on with it walk away, if it upsets you so easy don't go back to the subject, but as normal pubs you will always get the one or two trouble makers who just don't give up.
Being a Aussie I try to put a bit of humour into some of my threads and I do understand some people don't understand our Aussie ways and I don't mean to stir the pot up and make something out of it that it's not but some people just can't help themselves.
Be a sad place without our pub, just be more respectful to others and their opinions and keep politics and religion out of it and be happy, another beer thanks, who's shout is it anyway.

Or 4. I miss Abbott ale. That’s where I am from. They have it in cans but it’s not as good. Anyway cheers

A few years ago I was listening, on the radio, to a lady who was a chief brewer at some major beer maker. Her advice:
1. There is no real difference in beer from different containers - maybe cans are slightly better as they block light out.
2. Important not to drink the beer directly from bottles or cans. Does not allow the drinker to fully enjoy.
Her recommendation was to pour the beer into a glass - it alllows a head to form which gives off aroma (smell is an important part of taste) and allows the beer to de-gas slightly, meaning you will feel less bloated after a few.
I tried her recommendation and now am a convert - take my 6-pack plus 380ml glass (with cooler)
Will now only drink directly from can/bottle if there is no alternative.
Try it!
Cheers

Right… time for a REAL debate….

We used to have this debate years ago. At the time I was a Newcastle Brown drinker (liver is probably still recovering).

The issue that I discovered, after an extensive research that involved the consumption of much Newkie Brown, was that normally, there was no difference. But the beer in cans was was consistent whereas the beer in bottles was less so and you would often get a slightly different taste and occasionally get a ’bad’ one that did not taste right at all.

I was never told the sunlight idea, but it makes sense. What I was told by a couple of different landlords was that bottle caps do not always seal 100% whereas cans do. We’re only talking ‘micro leakage’ but still not a proper seal.
