It seems that the "spacer" or mushroom shaped adjustor is frozen to the shaft on my 850 commando.

Shaft spins easily, but for the life of me I can not get it to slide out.
Any one have this happen?
Adivce?

I packed extra washers between the nut and Z plate so as you tighten the nut it pulls the spindle out. This only moves it a millimeter or two at a time but it was enough with some penetrating fluid to get the spindle moving.

I had to take the disc cutter to the 850 I'm doing - even on the 40-ton press, it didn't want to move, despite the application of loads of penetrating fluid and heat!

I cut the one on the JPN by removing the PTFE washers to make space for the cutting blade.

Very typical problem.

I cut the parts off and it moved a fair bit.
Now the issue is that the metal ring inside the rubber is frozen to the shaft!

Going to look at ordering a new shaft and cutting the old one out.

It ALL has to come out. Throw it all away and install your adjustables. Make sure the rubber booties are closed right and as long as they aren't cracked, it will never happen again.

Cut the other side, too.

Then drive EVERYTHING out of the iso tube. Use a press if you have to.

Old Britts, I just bought one last week.

Fred MIGHT even have a used one if you ask nice!

I had some other stuff I needed to order from them anyway, so I added it to the list and pulled the trigger.
Hope to get things moving in a more positive direction faster and sooner.
