Ok, next question! :D

When I took the 850 motor apart I found radiused lifters and a hot cam. I want to put a milder cam in the motor, and all such cams I've seen so far specify flat lifters. Do I need to purchase a new set of flat lifters for the new cam, or can the radiused ones be used? My machinist said he could grind them down flat, but that doesn't sound like a good idea to me.

It's always something...

If you do have them ground flat then you need to have some custom length pushrods made to suit. The ends of the followers should have a stellite pad, as long as this is not going to be too thin after the grinding flat there should be no issues.

What kind of cam is that "hot" one?

If they are in good shape I'm sure someone would be willing to trade a set of equally good shape stock lifters. In fact, I might be willing to trade a good (used) cam and lifters for your "hot" one.
