I was at the shop last night and decided on a whim to make a stand to make working a little easier. So 15 minutes and some scrap iron I have a functional stand.
Plus it was easy to get the bike on it, just picked it up from the rear loop.
I made one out of 2" conduit, a rectangle with top cross piece padded and a 4 ft handle that swivels attached. Just slide under nearer front or rear and lever down to lift on end or the other stable. Folds up flat to store between stuff or against wall.

They are from here http://www.coneeng.com/motorcycle_components.html , $80 each. I don't know how well they work yet, but if the quality of them is any indication they will be great. I have heard only good things about them.
