Frame modification to kick on side stand

It's so easy, if you have the correct procedure
I just do what feels natural.

I did use a slightly different approach with my Panhead stroker. I would kneel on the seat with my left knee and give the pedal a quick stab after it came up to the top.

An update on the "fettling" I did just over a year and 3500 miles ago - https://www.accessnorton.com/Norton...ation-to-kick-on-side-stand.38316/post-651265 (read post #39 too)
After that I have not had to adjust the side stand once and have lubed it with Tac 2 a couple of times.
There is still zero up/down play in either the "stored" or "deployed" positions. So, in my opinion, the answer is to carefully remove all play and use hardened flat washers at the wearing interfaces - plus loctite blue (243) at the bottom assembly.

I do have the side stand out for kickstarting - not resting on it - just a safety measure.
Cheers

BTW - I planned to do, but never did, Jim Comstock's rather elegant rear "keeper".
Will fit the one I've made when/if needed.

Rob,
Are you going to machine this piece out of plastic also?
Thanks,Mike

Already have Mike.
The reason I haven't fitted it is that I'm reticent to drill into the side stand - so I'm looking at other connection options.

You can thread a piece of rod (say ø10mm) and weld or silver braze it to the side stand, then drill the "keeper" for a tight fit (ø10.2 mm) and secure it by the screw.
