Sorry to hear of your health issues. There are probably a lot of people like yourself who are compelled to work despite of pains. I agree with you that being a laborer is the true meaning of a worker. However, using this definition, society as we know it wouldn't exist. What about hair dressers, waiters or clerks? And even politicians are called for. Sure, it would have been great if evere MP had a carreer outside of politics to begin with. However, I wouldn't write off those who haven't. Compassion is a valuable asset for a politician, and raising one's voice on behalf of those striving is what MPs ought to do!

I was referring to the Wikipedia article about him. It's for anyone to read and complain if being false ..... As for the Northern Ireland dispute, he (Mr. Corbyn) said never having met rep's of the IRA ..... but what's so bad about meeting Sinn Fein? Listening and learning is what politicians need to do. Politics is alsways about seeking compromises. How can you seek a compromise without knowing the views of one of the fractions involved? Riding on a irreconcilable course doesn't warrant much hope for the future, especially not in Northern Ireland.

There is nothing quite so polarising and ire inducing as politics. Unfortunately the current crop of politicians and leaders (across the globe) is poor and people have had enough of the rhetoric, lies and nonsense spouted as “in the best interests of the public”
The average person believes that politicians are elected to represent them, this cannot be the case as the politician represents a constituency where more people don’t vote for them than actually do * and politicians cannot represent diametrically opposite views. The best we can hope for is that they work for the best interests of the communities they represent -they are not going to please everyone - EVER!

* my own MP - Vicky Ford was elected in 2017 with 37.5% of the eligible vote - she got 56.5% of the actual vote but it was only 70% turnout.

It's called take the money and run ! £88 billion for a hs2 railway to know where in the internet age. Vid conference etc. £2.6 billion to protect flood victims in the whole country. Big back pocket deals again. The people will have the final no say, as usual ! Cos they don't listen to them in Westminster ! One says it's day, the other it's night, sun's out, no it's raining ??? Easy life, not listening to the people they represent. Could be worse, I may not have a democratic opinion soon, if Jeremy Putin wins the election . Ride on knockers !

I worked as a middle manager / scientist in heavy engineering industries for more than 40 years. I sometimes came up against the unions. However I would trust any union guy long before I would trust any conservative politician. When a union guy is corrupt, he has to answer to his mates. If a conservative politician is corrupt, that is just part of ' THE JOKE '. The system runs on bullshit and once you acknowledge that fact, you will never be disappointed, because your expectations are not so high. Never be a BELIEVER !

In Australia we have lost almost our entire technology base, through decisions which were made by politicians who have never done a real day's work in their lives. When WW2 ended in 1945 we had large defence industries - from 1948 to today, most Australian governments have been conservative. All they ever do is sit on their hands and work out ways to benefit the people who fund their party. If that involves buying all manufactured goods from China - that is what happens.

Unions learned every corrupt dirty trick they ever pulled from the management they had to deal with.

It is not for me to tell my grandmother how to suck eggs. However if I was a British worker under the current circumstances, I would be talking seriously to my union representative about Brexit. Unions are a legitimate expression of industrial democracy and If Jeremy Corbin is the man up front, I'd make sure he did what is in my own best interests. During the general strike in the UK in May 1926, the unions had a complete management structure and they still lost out to the mine owners. If you think you are a cut above other people, you might support Boris Johnston, but I think you would suffer the consequences of conservative cynicism.

There is always a problem in being reactive - proactive is better - manage the risk.
In businesses which have ISO 9000 management systems, if the documentation is good enough workers should be able to self-manage.

But they were made pariah’s by their modern day opponents and judged through a lens of modern day morals, and their statues deemed undesirable and requiring removal from public display.

A scandal IMHO.

I agree whole heartedly. show me a genuine compassionate mp and i'll be over them like a rash. trouble is. I have more chance of meeting a unicorn in a truly democratic society!
