I am fitting some new piston rings in my Norton (when they arrive).

I would assume that they will come pre-gapped, but can anybody tell me what gap the three rings should have, and I'll check them anyway.

Reggie.

Sorry, I didn't amend my title. I have posted a separate thread for the control unit.

As I think you are referring to an 850 MkIII
The factory manual says:

Top ring gap = 0.010 - 0.012 in.
Middle ring gap = 0.008 - 0.012 in.

I've never had to alter the gap on 850 rings. I think that I would double check everything before I started removing metal.

I have had to alter the gaps on new rings before so it is worth checking before going ahead with final assembly.

Were those Hepolite rings ?

It's a while ago so I don't remember the brand but I'm sure I bought piston and ring sets from Norvil. My bike is a 750 and I had it rebored.
