Pazon Surefire likes 5K resistor cap , non resistor plugs and HT leads.
No other resistor other than the cap.
Regards Mike

I run no resistor plug and caps. Seems fine to me. What difference might I expect if I fit 5K resistor caps?

Nothing to add but wanted to share my experience. Got a 73 850 with fried positive wires like battery was connected backwards. sat for 30+ years inside unmolested so I did a bunch of work, gearbox, brakes, cables, carbs and stuff till ready to fire on points. Ran but not good would go about 60 so I kept fixing things for months and gave up. Got a surefire and shindengen sh775, stripped all the ballast resistor, zeners, bunch of wire. Thats when I found one 6v and one 12v coils. was that the problem ill never know. Still ran the like crap with new configuration. Put some ngk 5ohm caps on and oh my god this thing rips. But I read Steves post above and he didn't need em??

Received new module—Andy Said the replacement was tested before shipping. I installed—and —-. I give up, still no spark. So back to points. Don’t know what the problem is and don’t care at this point. I am out the cost of the initial purchase as well as the warranty shipping. Wouldn’t do that again. If the selling dealer doesn’t handle warranty issues locally, I don’t want it. Modern electronics are great when they work but when they don’t—arggg.
Got the spark advance reinstalled as well as the points plate, need to solder on the original points wire connections then on to timing. Double check the coil connections etc. Probably going to need to find a Norton guru here in Louisville to sanity check the final reassembly. So, how is your day going????

Huck, I may be the only person here to say this: Nice going, you did the right thing!

The points screws are often buggered but you can usually put them in a vice and, with a hacksaw, cut the slot a bit deeper. clean the top with a file and they'll be good for another 40+ years! OR you could rethread the plate with an appropriate tap and use commonly available machine screws.

It is not common knowledge but pazon has informed distributors to be aware of increased warranty claims
he recently changed suppliers of transistors and has had high rate of immediate failiures on units built between Feb 2018 until August 2018

hopefully this will now be corrected and normal service will resume

Is there someone in Kentucky that can help Huckfinn? Something simple being overlooked. No way 2 bad Pazons.

I asked this question before and got no answer, so will ask again...

You have been through the big rubber block of connectors and checked the kill switch? The coils are wired in series (original system they are in parallel)?

Have you confirmed their is power to the unit? This is all basic stuff that really needs to be checked.

I'll trade an AAU in good condition for the Pazon!

Russ
