Hi.
I want to fit the Pazon I.E. on my 1967 Atlas.
First, i understand that i must set it clockwise like Triumph (Commando is anticlock wise) because the turn on the back of the timing is on the contrary.
But you know the primary cover do not have the degree scale like the Commando.
There is a way to use the strobo light?.
Thank you.
Piero

The usual way to strobe earlier Nortons (than the Commando) is to attach a degree wheel to the alternator shaft - yes the primary cover has to come off.

My degree wheel came free in ClassicBike magazine.
I just photocopy it and stick it to a bit of cardboard if the hole in the centre isn't the right size.
You need to rig up a pointer/bit of wire off a suitable bolt somewhere to get the mark.

I am using a commando rotor on my Atlas. It has a timing mark at 6:00 O'clock. Then you can make a 120 degree arc shaped strap from thin gauge alloy, mount it between two of the stator studs, and use a degree wheel to locate timing marks on the strap. The strap can be left in place for future use.

You can use an Atlas rotor if you make your own TDC mark on it.

Just to be certain: the Atlas turns the magneto anti-clockwise when viewed from the timing side, clockwise when viewed from the drive side.

Just to be perfectly clear, thats the timing side and drive side OF THE MOTORCYCLE mentioned here.

The magneto spins anticlockwise looking at its drive shaft/sprocket when holding it in your hand.
It should have an arrow on its label on the body.
