Just enjoyed a 200mile trundle around the Blue Mountains area of Sydney on the 850. The weather was nothing special, and the traffic at times was woeful. But the bike ran so nicely it really makes all the shed time worth it. Balanced the Amal's with one of those manometer gauges, and the engine has never run so smooth. I found the source of the miss fire from last week, turns out is was a loose connection in the ignition wiring, at the trigger unit. I raised the needles one notch, (middle on 850 needles) and Pick up and roll on roll off is much smoother. It could be erring on side of rich? I noticed a slight drop in oomph up in the Blue mountains. But it feels great down at sea level.

Has anyone else tried the needles in the middle notch on an 850?

Cheers Richard

Stockie,
I run my 850 with the needle on the center notch and it runs real nice with good plug color.
Dual Amals,elevation around 500 feet

Hi Ying,
Thanks for the reply. I don't want to muck around with the carb settings, now that it idles so nice.
