Those white and green Kawaki tanks are pretty cool. I'm starting to think I might do gold w/ black lettering, w/o striping. Haven't seen that one yet, but I'm sure it's out there.?

Not at all my cup of tea, but here's something different that was at the norton meet this year in washington's crossing PA

Those 880's were the inspiration for the new Norton C'ommandos, back when Kenny Dreer owned the Norton Brand, or some portion of it. I like the paint job. But cdnt rock it on my bike. BTW,what up to a fellow Pennsylvanian! I grew up in State College, class of 89'. Peace

I dig those 880s, they make the NEW Commando look porky/bulbous, but that green paint job...ugh...LOUD PAINT SAVES LIVES???

He made those just up the road from me in Oregon. Lots of good ideas. Craftsmanship though........ There's a cool vid of him riding in Oregon on you tube. It's the guy pullin wheelies and really getting on it!

There seems to be a lot of nortons in my area. I've seen at least 4 members on here within 15 minutes of where I live.

I had a gold on white Triumph that I have always thought was a classy combination.

I really think if I did a black vinyl with gold around it and maybe some gold pin striping it would set off the white really nice! I never did pin striping though so I would probably bungle that up! I can find some old helmets and practice I guess!

I liked a lot of those Trumpet tanks, particularly the black and gold Trident tank. Sidecovers always looked weird though. I'm still wondering if anybody has seen a gold Commando with black lettering.?

I did this black and gold leaf treatment on my Interstate back in the '80s. It was fun, but a bit garish.

I also tried a green and gold theme on one of the early iterations of my Production Racer. It was a Cadillac firemist green. Again, it looked pretty nice, but also a bit garish.

My favorite at them moment is this simple red and gold combo on my current street bike. I plan to do a total rebuild with some serious mods on it this year, but think I'll keep the color combo.

That has to be the biggest Norton logo I've ever seen! Guess your eyesight has gotten better over the years. JK.

Then there is the purple-n-gold - but maybe you need high pipes to get away with that scheme...

IIRC Alan Seeley who writes for Classic Bike magazine in the UK has a gold heavy flake commando with black lettering and stripes. It was on the cover at one point. I think it still makes its way into every issue even if is it a small pic. Kind of an orangish gold. The best way I can describe how good it looks (in print anyway) is a caption from a photo of it from a few years ago - "as if butter wouldn't melt....."

closest I could find was this pic from the britbike forums:

What a great seat!! White Shag must be the hardest possible seat to keep looking good but then again, all you need is a brush!! I doubt I will ever do it but if I built a chopper ( witch would never be done by destrying a Norton ) it would definetly have a long hair shag seat!! You Brits & your Pychedelic Furs!!
