Kinda a rant but a Warning to All . I'm reseller of parts bikes and will always due the best to ship best with min cost . With that said i just ordered and received a good bezel kit from nisonger instruments . The kit was good but the shipping form ny to va was 19 dollars in a 2 dollar non padded envelope , and ground shipping , i mean come on i can ship 10 of these faster and safer for about 6 dollars and this was after almost 2 weeks of waiting for them to ship . As for the bezel its ok it will work not recommending them for anyone would say the ebay parts would be better and more cost affective i could have got ss screws and there gaskets for the same price . i fell riped off and dont want the members here to get burned

same with ebay, i don't bid on things a lot because shipping is a gouge job quite often, I always add the shipping in to see if it is worth it to me. Good to ask before ordering and think that way.

Did you know what the shipping cost was when you ordered? It's high, but of it's stated in advance, you coulda said "no thanks"

it might also depend on whether they include an admin charge in the shipping for low cost items.
Of course it is better if these charges are transparent if they are included.

When i ordered i did forget to ask about shipping . Had i did and said 19 i would have declined the parts for sure . ive been use to dealing with old britts that dont give shipping upfront( web orders) and have not been raped like this. Live and learn . you cant trust all companies to be fair on shipping or quaility .

Shipping is one of my rants too. I won't order something just because I either don't know what they will charge or it's too much.

Now on to the Congress and USPS, they're killing the PO because the private carriers have the politicians in their back pocket (read Issa). Do you think the PO can give Issa any loot for favors? You know, I can get a small Priority package from CA to VA in 2 days to my door for around $5. It's at least $15 private carrier and takes 3-5 days. Even PO flat rate packages are much less than other carriers.

You know what happened when our local PO went from all day to 1-5pm. The postal workers have the same work in 1/2 the time, for probably even less than 1/2 the salary. Did the quantity of mail change, no. Did the quality, yes.

Vote these dick heads out. Lets get some reasonable people in there that aren't beholden.

As far as OB, you can tell Ella to go easy on the postage. She'll ship it USPS. But I always call, the web site doesn't seem to work very good for me.

Dave

i also ask ella to ship USPS (i'm in PA and it's not only cheaper but actually arrives DAYS fast than UPS ground) i've also asked people to work on the shipping and they've come down. Most recent example i ordered mirrors from british customs and when i got the checkout there was only one option for shipping, and it was an obscene amount. I called them and just said i would love to do business with them but not not at those prices. They shipped it via the exact same method and it was more than $10 less. thats too much of a markup IMO.

It's fun to get all angry about shipping charges and get all sweaty and fired up. For many operations the REAL profit is in the shipping charges ! My advice is to Boycott U.P.S. , also Fedex and use regular postal services.

I think Lee Iococa said "people go into business to make money". Well if you dont make every dime
possible today you go out of business rather quickly. So that is why guys get a fiver for the
bit and ten to ship it to you. You are correct, you must either go elsewhere or get them to relent.
I use USPS priority as much as I can. Just stuffed three brake rotors in one box and out it went!
Best deal in town. But keep in mind that the USPS loses VAST sums every year.

Because the crooks that own the house and senate (read UPS and FedEx) prevent the USPS from operating like they want to and could.

I'm not going into a history lesson of what the Post Office did for this country since Ben Franklin. You get rid of the PO and you'll find out what it costs to ship something, much less get any mail delivered to your house. Privatization reduces taxes, but increases fees ten fold. For someone's corporate jet.

i certainly understand people having to turn a profit, but if i was them i would sell my $40 product as $50 WITH FREE SHIPPING! as long as it says 'free' even though they jacked up the price dumbo's like me will be happy to pay

you would think that would work, but I've tried that many times selling bits on Ebay and for some reason it does not increase sales.

I ran into that myself awhile back, was going to order a Trispark from CNW for $300, got to checkout and they wanted another $30 for shipping a small box  ....ended up ordering a Pazon from NZ which was only about $120 total w/ shipping...the exorbitant shipping fron CNW killed that sale and any others to me unless there is no alternative.

Atleast Fed Ex and UPS aren't stuffing spam in my mailbox everyday. They only deliver the things I've ordered. Why does somebody need to get paid $15-$30 an hour to stuff crap in my mailbox that I just end up recycling? Not to mention how long you stand in line at the post office. I don't know about you guys, but a half hour of my time is worth more than saving
$10 bucks in shipping or whatever.

Virginia limits the governor to one term, but it doesn't stop him from taking gifts for his daughter's wedding, his wife stumping for "supplements", and vacationing at the same sleaze ball's mansion at Smith Mt. Lake and using his cars (Ferrari ). I can't believe our governor, it stinks more than dried, limed cod after it's been stacked outside the hardware store and all the dogs come by and pee on it (Lutefisk). http://www.washingtonpost.com/local/va- ... story.html Better thing would be to have total open primary elections, and voting districts selected by population areas, not gerrymandering.

Snorton, if you didn't get that junk mail, your first class and packages would cost more than double. There's a price for everything. Ask 'em what they pay for postage in EU, it's certainly not $.45.

I'm done.

Just one more thing to add to the list of what is wrong in the world.
The hand-basket to hell runith over
It is sad to see how quickly things are going to shit on a daily basis.
What kind of world will my kids be left with?

Postage is probably pretty cheap in the grand scheme of things.
eBay take a cut on that these days ?

US$20 to post a Norton speedometer from Greenville, South Carolina to my door (Postie on a CT110) in Australia doesn't seem to tough.
A Norton inner primary cover from California for $30. (USPS)
The complete (heavy) Norton 750 head from the UK cost $131. (FedEx)
The Interstate fuel tank from India around $71.
A Commando horn / throttle complete / instrument pod / air/choke lever $72 (USPS)
A medium small box from Andover Norton in the UK $60 (Parcel Force)
With 114 + shipments off eBay in the last 12 months shipping is a mayor cost.

Anyone remember when buying overseas meant snail mailing a postal note and a phone call went though at least two operators. :D

Try getting something shipped from the U.S. into Canada, I always try to use USPS at least they don't charge a brokerage fee when it crossed the border. If you go Fed Ex or UPS they have an internal brokerage service, so basically add an additional fee for no real value added.
