Over charging shipping

nine times out of ten I'll charge less than actual shipping cost when selling on Ebay, I dont mind paying the extra
if it gets the sale. with new USPS increase in international shipping costs including Ebays new 10% fee on the shipping cost which sellers are adding on now, it makes buying from the US not so viable any more, I certainly watch what I buy now.

I guess it is your choice if you have the up front shipping charges presented to you prior to ordering stuff. What bugs me is, and this is mostly EBAY vendors, are items which are given low value buy it now prices, and the "difference" is made up by a high postage charge. OK, the total price is the same, but have you read the small print where it says that if you return the item for any reason, they will refund the cost of the item, but not postage costs. I've had a few vendor discussions on that topic in the past...............

I guess thats why you see these sellers with big Negative Feedback, Ebay seem to go along with these sellers of junk, why wouldnt they. Ebay raves on about buyer protection but as you have pointed out, the buyer is screwed with the angle you mentioned.

I've had a pretty good run on eBay over the last 10 years but eBay logic is debatable and wonder what qualification some of the staff have mechanically.
Last year I spot a 650 Triumph 9 stud head (Sydney).
The pictures showed what looked to be a reasonable casting but were a little small and the front was obscured for the most part but showed one spigot missing,no big deal.
The seller stated the head could not be viewed and no questions would be answered, based on that it was taken for granted it was OK.
What turns up after winning the auction, the casting was not bad but it had multiple cracks in the combustion chambers, the missing spigot thread was destroyed, the other was mangled with a hammer perhaps.
I contacted the seller and offered to post it back as my expense, the seller declined.
The outcome of the eBay resolution even with multiple clear photo's supplied. ?
The seller did no wrong as I had received an item as per the description that being a 9 stud Triumph cylinder head and it was deemed buyers remorse, case closed.
It became a door stop until the $1000 to repair it is viable.

in my experience with ebay (which they actually asked me NOT to share with other people) they take care of bad situations. I sold a guitar amplifier for $1900, had it packed, shipped, and insured at a UPS store. The buyer received it, and sent me an email "works great, love it, everything is fine" a week later he started sending nasty emails saying it was broken, i sold it to him knowing it was broken, etc etc. I refused to give his money back based on the fact that i didn't know what he might have done to it in that week. I offered to file a claim for repair with UPS, he refused to repair(suspect) so in the end, ebay gave him his $1900 back, let me keep the $1900 he paid for it, AND ebay paid for him to ship the amp back to me. It was indeed a $50 repair that did happen in shipping, UPS paid for it and i resold it again for another $1800 on ebay. What they told me on the phone was "we will always make it right, we protect everyone, but we don't want people exploiting it/us so please don't go around telling this story" whoops!

PO service, think it is called Priority Mail,
with the "if it fits in the box we ship it" is fantastic. But the PO is in the hole badly.
The money has to come from somewhere and I dont see why any of us
should have subsidized shipping if that is what is happening.
And for full disclosure, Im a civil servant. You have to be one to know the full extent of the rot.
It is mind boggling.
Meanwhile Ill use it as it is a good deal from the consumer end.

Here in Canada we have the Post Office declaring problems as people are not mailing like they used to. Seems they are shifting to the internet to connect.

Is it possible ANYONE is talking about that with a possible leafs vs habs 1st round on the horizon!? Since my flyers didn't make it i'll be cheering for the Leafs this year (cant remember the last time that happened)

Go Leafs Go. How about them Leafs ? ! I have a special cross- border brokerage fee offer for Yanks and the rest of the world. No bitchin' because it's a wooden nickel less than Ticket Custard (Ba...) would tag on. Or take the special couriered to your hungry paws offer (special charges apply). Apply now and receive a FREE photocopy of a photograph of a rare Norton Motorbike !

You guy's should try living down here in New Zealand and paying the shipping charges we have to pay.
It's all a rip off !
Some people are making big buck dollar shipping shit on this planet.
It sucks the big one - twice !

Shipping is just a stealth tax, but different retailers have different policies. I may be wrong, but somebody told me once that ebay only charge sellers commission on the actual value of the product being sold, but not the shipping cost.....

As with everthing these days, everydody needs to do their homework before purchasing anything!

3 charges for Ebay sellers
Listing fee
Final value fee (thats the killer)
9% or 10% of the shipping cost.
then of course Paypal (the same company) charge a variety of fees not to mention
ripping you off on the exchange rate.
buy shares in Ebay, ya cant go wrong.
