Curiosity and laziness got the better of me today. I haven't got the desire to look for an old road test on the Commando (could be spring fever, although down here we're already into summer according to the temperature) and curiosity got me wondering what the 1/4 mile time for a stock 850 Commando is/was. Anybody got an old road test handy?
Thanks,
Scooter

Cycle Magazine June 1973 ....SS 1/4 mile.....13.06 sec....100.78mph.

Motorcycle Mechanics.,..June 1973.....12.9 sec.

Cycle World....May 1973.....12.96sec....102.38mph.

Cycle Australia...Nov. 1973.....14 sec...91.46mph.

Thanks L.A.B.
High 12's none too shabby for a 30+ year old scooter. Gives me hope that I'll be able to spank at least the stock Harleys that have over run the state :P

In March 1971 Cycle World tested the Norton 750 Commando Fastback at the track and posted a quarter mile time of 13.11 seconds at a speed of 101.67 mph.

These figures suggest the 850 is slightly quicker?

Just had Norman White at our annual rally and he acheived 12.24 on a stock 850, back when they were new.
