Well following on from Triplets P&M which I saw for sale far to late!
I've aquired this.
Rob North frame 850 Richard Peckett 850 engine. Stage 1 crank, Carrillo rods, 1" tappets, 511TC cams, mushroom adjusters, lash caps, lightened timing wheels, hardened seats, center plugged, 29mm Keihin CR smoothbore carbs, belt drive, koni shocks, ceriani forks, special discs, sender in the fuel tank, plus an incomprehensible to me Koso clock & 2 files of build files.
Originally built by a BEA aircraft engineer. The Hyde 1000 engine was part exchanged with a fair bit of the green stuff for a full P&M 850 engine.
Engine number is RDBPP848.
R D Bowden 848cc not sure what the pp is about. It's a Miles frame no 75. Joy at the club is going to ask Normans son for the frame build date but the bike was built in 1982 & is an X registration.
I got my first run on it at the Mallory Festival in torrential rain. Rode it to Brighton for an mot Thursday, its now road taxed & insured.
Sounds fabulous, everything is light & easy. However it's like riding a shopping trolley! Front & rear crash & rattle like a good un. Konis are on the hardest spring setting, its on no 1 on the damping setting. The Cerianis are on 10 weight, no idea on springs. Not ridden on such terrible roads before, pot holes everywhere! No smooth race tracks here lol. Waiting on Dave Madigan starter kit to be available again but at the moment I'm able to kick it over.
Totally different to the race motor, same sound but this burbles along beautifully. Really well mannered. Too much fork dive for me & an oil leak from the high gear oil seal. Overall well chuffed.

Sorry Schwany it's a Newby clutch. It is pretty good smooth quiet take up. Unless you use a fair few revs & sometimes it squeals a bit. I need to concentrate & ride it a bit to learn how it all goes together.

The pressure plate looks similar on a NEB. I see the difference now.

I've been considering an NEB from Molnar and thought that was one. Oops

Just had a look at the photo. It gives me the urge. I would like one of those. The front brake is the best part of it. With that, the rest of the bike would always be fast enough. I suspect many guys do not know how to ride that sort of bike in anger. I think the 5 speed Triumph gear cluster fits the triples.

Triumph 5 speed cluster is a copy/clone of the Quaife race box just different ratios for the road.
The belt drive kit comes with a different mainshaft from P & M.

You could TEACH all the wannabes how to ride....💡👨‍🏫

It'd be a great passtime for you

Hi Sam it's got a P& M belt drive on it. I thought he had Madigan T160 starters? I have a T160 inner cover, what else would I need?

you may need a new mainshaft unless P&M have already put a circlip groove in it and also a starter ring. i would speak to P&M (sorry for butting in Sam) i converted my old Harrier to E start but dont tell Fast Eddie :D:D:D

Thanks Triples
Richard o sn't to good & Dave is having both knees replaced. I will have a look at the mainshaft. Still not managed to change the Hi gear oil seal as I haven't got a tool to hold the clutch center.

Sorry Chris, senior moment , the Madigan still uses the T160 clutch starter ring to turn it over so it won't fit with the P&M clutch

Thanks Triples
