When I recieved my bike it came with a box of spares. Included was 5 or 6 domiracer oil filters that are probably 20+ years old. Any advice as to whether or not to use them? Does the filter membrane break down over time?

Darkroast,

I personally would not use a 20-year old oil filter. The rubber base gasket has no doubt deteriorated somewhat over that amount of time. Also, the paper filter element has experienced some degradation. As such, I recommend installing a new filter; they don't cost much. Crossland makes a good filter for Nortons.

Regards,

Jason

I would score the Converter for the more common oil filters. The twenty bucks you spend will pay off with in four changes of the oil. Pull in to any auto dept. and grab a filter nice and easy. Same place as the exhast wrench Old Britts. And others. norbsa
