Oil cooler, need / no need?

Whilst looking at my front end clonk, I think my best temp fix is gonna be cable ties.

A longer term fix is gonna require some bracket fabrication. There’s an opening here for an after market product guys...!

And, one obvious solution would be to remove the cooler altogether. Perhaps not the best idea, but I really don’t know.

So what’s the opinion of our more learned posters, how necessary is the oil cooler? Perhaps the answer is different depending on location, so I’m obviously thinking about it’s necessity in the U.K. / Nortern Europe. I won’t be crossing Death Valley on it...
 
You'd really need to install an oil temp sensor to see what's going on. But I'd imagine your warranty would be toast if you removed it! I note the early ones don't but the black one has sprouted one.
