It's been a while, and the accident set me back some. So here is an update. I got to do a little work on things tonight. Front wheel is all done, front brake is all done, front end is all done. Seat pan is mocked up, awaiting final aluminum sheet. Seat foam is roughed out, needs final shaping. Plate and rear lights mounted. Wiring routed. Seat covering should be happening in a week or two. Then it's on to finishing the oil tank, mount the electrics, and a few frame mounting points added for stuff. Not too much left. Just a lot of little things. Here are a few recent photos from tonight's seat work.
I am really happy how the plate mounted.

Did you check that the rear tire will not hit the license plate? Looks too vertical to me according to your pictures. Usually the rear fender (I'm guessing you won't have one) is very close to the rear loop and the rear tire can come very close to the fender.

I checked it and he's fine with the tag hanging there as tire moves up and forward so never gets close. I'm thinking of a tag and light on hinges to lift up once over ticket getting speed.

All your fork brace will do is add weight and stiction .[/quote]

That is a matter of opinion :!:

It's a good thing I will be doing the journey in miles :D This is not the final seat base, I am waiting on the material to arrive. The final one will have a "u" channel brace for the plate mount.

As for the brace, so far with everything all tightened down it's smoooooooooootttthhhhhh operating up front. Just as smooth as without it.

It's been a little while since I have done an update. I picked up my seat today and moved the bike from the basment to the garage. The seat looks great and is very comfy. Now on to finish up al the little things, and blow it all apart to paint the frame.

Pretty empty looking through it Brent. Hope your seat lip is enough to keep ya seat planted as no way to knee grip the UFO tank polish. Want to read how well the LED headlight works out too.

I have another LED headlight on my Yamaha, works awesome. As for the seat, for now it's attached with adel clamps, i'm going to weld mounting tabs on the frame for it soon.

Just an observation, the tank's rear tie-down piece will wear a big hole in the front of your new seat in short order....don't ask me how I know this.

The Combat rebuild has taken all the wind out of these sails. But the Combat is all done and in shakedown mode, so I have started back on this project. I got most of the tank mods done, all that is left is the fuel sending unit and breather line.

I removed the rear mount lug....Man is that tank shiny...

And fabbed and installed some bungs to thread....

Removed the top vent tube....

And made clearance the front for the oil filler tube and cap......

And the filler tube.....

I still need to order a few parts, as I have stolen them to finish the combat.

Over the weekend the bike made it over to my shop. Last night I had some tome and got the filler neck installed. Now on to the oil tank.

Alrighty another one in the late gestion stages. Them RGM yorks look familiar adding to the shine. Want to understand the OIF plumbing some time.

Mine is quite simple, an alloy oil tank that plugs into the back of the spine tube, all the usual fittings on the tank, with internal tubes in the spine for the return and vent.

Not much going on with this build. I did purchase a pair of 19" Kimtab Magnesium rims for it. 8 pounds for the front and 9 pounds for the rear. I took the wheels, brakes, rearsets , carbs, alternator and switches off for my Dunstall project. Once I sell that I am going to invest heavily in precious metals for this bile. Maney aluminum barrel, JS rods and pistons andJS flatslides. Depending on funds I might do maney cases and crank or bite the bullet and go for the 1007cc kit. We'll see how it goes. I need to sell the Dunstall first, unless it sits around too long and I restore it.

I didn't have your balls to cut that big a hole for Peel's spinal oil fill cap, especially how thin a tube it is, but figured the welded ring of steel would beef it up ok. Nice tight work and fitting.
