If you go back and re read, this swingarm was a quick and dirty version 1.0. A proof of idea.
I will be going back and making version 2.0 at some point in the future.
The welds look worse than they are because there are clotted with buffing compound .

It amazes me how hung up on this dam swing arm a few people have gotten.

As for the OIF, again re read, I am using the spine along with a plug in tank at the tail end of the tube.

Please save the drama for somewhere else. I'm all stocked up.

sorry bwolfie but i am not talking about that buffing compound , and even a mock-up can look decent , but hey we are here to swap ideas i thought
if you are going to add a second tank in the tail how are going to get rid of aeration?
we spend some time and money on this so perhaps you can shed some light on this
again no pun intended although you seem to be high strung on this

ps my bike weights 160kg ,with oil but no fuel , heaviest bits are the cast alloy wheels

A few with the wheels on.

love the thread. love the bike. love the criticism although could be a bit less of the "you aren't doing this right" type.

Custom is just another way of saying you're making something to a personal specification.

I was really enjoying following this thread. I can't say that I agree with all of the aesthetic and engineering decisions made, but it was fun! It is a shame that you had to be so discouraged by the input of other builders. Their input was mostly meant well but unnecessarily hostile. The point of this forum ( I would hope) is to learn from each others mistakes and successes. Thank you for your effort.

Oh yum what a see though creation! Its sassy as hell and would confuse the chopper guys to boot.

Brakes look like they need work ?!!

Its different.
Sleek cafe look, sort of.

Beautiful! Wheels are awesome. If you would like to recieve the positive comments you deserve, move this thread to chopcult.com! They would be in awe.

Wheels might look better and make the bike stand out from the crown, if painted in Day-Glow orange :!:

Oh darn Bernard catch up with the times the modern rockers now fit dayglow orange and yellow and red or blue tires. Its good you reminded Brad to fit some brakes when he gets around to it. Brad if you strip off the brown seat cover and leave it bare or put spray it dull black they might see its very similar to the past famous vintage plain slab racer seats.

Thanks Scott  , umm I mean Steve. It's Brent by the way.

Brakes and rearsets are being researched now.

I have had a string of sales lately and have freed up a little cash to add parts to the project.

As I look out the window the ground is covered in white crap.

So thoughts turn to working on bikes again. I have spent the last few weeks researching brake parts.

I have decided on some Ducati Snowflake rotors

A grimeca 6 pot for the front ( this might change still undecided)

Found a nice aluminum Ducati sidestand, will work nicely.

And welded on my seat mount tabs.

I'm thinking inverted levers and cable actuated remote master cylinder for the front.

LOL, Wolf, dude, because your sigline includes the name of you're welding business, people naturally compare their home grown birdshit dabblings to a professional... they expect an artful stack of dimes.
Occasionally, we plunge the non-consumable electrode into the molten puddle of filler metal. Simple, really, just step in the booth, say your penance..."Our Father, who arcs in heaven, Airco be thy name,..." you know the rest :p :p

Thursday is my birthday, so the wife is giving me a day or two of uninterrupted shop time.

I have a pile of parts waiting to modify and install.

I have some ducati snowflake rotors, grimeca calipers, morocross rear master cylinder and a kawasaki gpz 750 swingarm.

Also a different head and aluminum barrel.

If all goes well I should make nice progress.

Actually life has taken over. I started contracting part time at a former employer, also working at the family camper store, still doing the welding business and keeping the household going. So little time to work on this bike right now.

I have fabbed up some foot peg hangers, that was January 7th. They are waiting to be welded to the frame. Brake rotors are mounted, need to mount up the calipers.

When I went to the shop for my uninterrupted day of work, it was interrupted helping get an electric wheel chair carrier to interface with my mom's explorer so my dad could get around. He slipped on the ice in front of a Menards ( home improvement store) and injured his already injured knee.

Someday i'll get back to it, so far every time I try something gets in the way.

Also since January I did a little tinkering with putting a belt drive on to replace the drive chain.

The Buell 1125 uses a cush drive built into the front pulley.

I sourced one for $14, so it was worth it to hack it up to see if I can make it work.

I think I will be able to squeeze it in, but I don't know if the maney outrigger will fit with it.

Oh well at least we know you are still alive and kicking, i know the feeling about getting way laid, let's hope you get back on track. Projects can go to sleep...as many have. I have a garage full!
