Does anyone here have a Norton RITA electronic ignition schematic with component values listed? Breadboarding and testing this is well within my Limitations and I probabaly have most of the componentsalready. The choke values will be hardest to match. The rest should be easily available. Don't think Dave Comeau has one yet.

I mentioned chokes in the same sentence with other components. My mistake, Dave. I talking about the ones that are triggered by magnets (?) in the old points area. Have to make a pulse in some fashion..just a guess.

If you're up to building one, perhaps you can design it too? It's not rocket science.

I designed a couple of electronic ignitions back in the 70's after getting out of EE school. Intentions were to retrofit my points equipped 350, and that effort continued when I got my Norton. The biggest problem I had was the trigger mechanism (I was using optical trigger, not magnetic) and no machine shop capabilities. I did manage a CDI design that made so much spark you could see corona around the plug wires at night!

Then I discovered the Boyer and went on to other things.

Thanks Dave. I was hoping component values would be included. I was trained in electronics many years ago and always think I can build something etc. but practical use of time usually overcomes the retro urge. Much as I hate to I've started to working weekends to fund this project ie: the 71. I have decided to bite the bullet and make this thing like new as it goes back together and quit trying to buy used stuff or make everything I can.

No worries Seaguy, I intend to dig mine out and see if it's still serviceable, will determine the component values then. My day job is electronics engineer, doing component-level design, so shouldn't take too much effort to come up with a complete schematic and layout. Bear with me, this will take a week (of spare time).

Edit: Sorry LAB, should have checked out your link - here's the component values:

Thanks guys. I had the boyer with no values . This is something to fool with. Dave C. told me the RITA output transistor was no longer available. I bet the latest single fire units are some PWM arrangement firing a husky set of mosfets.
