Been working on the new shop all summer. It's almost finished. It's been a long journey with health issues and finding enough time.

Started moving bikes in there. The Norton finally has a spot so I can start working on her over the winter.

Here's a picture of her new home during rebuild.

Very spacious, and bright, but where is the frig with the beers?

Well, it´s just as good to admit it; I´m jealous! Guaranteed not the only one either. That is just fantastic!

It's been my experience the quality, cleanliness and orderliness of the work area reflects the quality of the work. No doubt, this shop turns out first class work. I would expect nothing less from a metro area Minnesotan.

Thanks for the awesome comments.

I'll try to answer the questions.

This is a modular home that I converted into a shop. It was a mess when I started.

There is a full kitchen, which originally I was going to take out, but then decided I could use the oven to bake parts, and the fridge to hold beer.

This is the area behind where the Norton is parked now. To the right of Captain America is where the fridge is.

There is a separate parts room.

The master bedroom is open to the main shop and there is a ramp and double doors to get the bikes in. That area is not complete yet but will be a storage area for bikes. I am working on finishing this area now.

One of the bedrooms will be a paint booth. I will be working on that next.

There also will be a small machine shop using the master bath and the back entrance area.

It's hard to put it in perspective because it was a house. I knocked a bunch of walls down to open it up. There is 1700 Sq Ft of area, heated and air conditioned so I can work all year round.

A couple observations...if that is indeed your choice for an Oktoberfest beer, the box on the shelf, kudos. Puts Sam Adams and the like to shame. Second...nice single play machines. Might I suggest Bobby Orr, Hanglider and Mata Hari. Nice shop too.

Wow again !

Think you have just eclipsed near everyone in the garage building stakes !

Norton in it's cottage,
Norton in it's suite,
Norton in it's estate,
Norton in it's chateau,
Norton in it's villa,
Norton in it's abode,
Norton in it's sanctuary ...... but shop? I have the sin of envy.

Looks great, you have done a good job and its a very clean work area, very impress with what you have done, it good what you can do to a house that wasn't surpose to be a workshop, what machiney will you have in the machine room.

Wow! Thanks to everyone for the positive feedback. It makes me feel good because this has been a difficult road for me, and was really just a dream of mine to have a decent work space and a bit of a man cave.

lazyeye6, I'm divorced but engaged. The shop is in my fiance' spare house. It was her idea to use the house. I wanted to build a new building on the property. It sort of grew on me because the house was there and structurally it was fine. The only real issue was building a ramp to get the bikes up there and completely redoing the inside. Cheaper than building new though.

Ashley, I have a lathe, manual mill and drill press. I also plan on getting a small CNC mill. This is stage 2 at this point because I really want to finish the paint booth before winter. I have all the parts just need to put it together. Critical to finishing the Norton. I have been using a makeshift booth in my barn. The bike in the background was painted in that booth.

1up3down, The Norton will be completely torn down and rebuilt. I have most of the parts. Frame will be stripped and painted along with the tank and side covers...full restoration. Engine is sound having been rebuilt about 1000 miles ago, but will be upgrading stator, clutch, drive, ignition, etc. When I get it to the bench will have a clearer view on it. The forks are done with Landsdowne kit, billet trees, new tubes, springs, bushings and seals. Bars and switchgear and MC are from 2014 Triumph. Front brakes are upgraded to Brembo. Rear will also be Brembo. I will do a complete rewire with fuse block and relays. Just too many things to list but plan is for reliability and drivability not performance.

I take it your are not married..

I'm betting he is married. I'd say his wife gave him an ultimatum, either she can use the garage to park her car or she finds someone with a garage she can do so. Hence, the new shop.

Minnesota winters and parking cars outdoors do not mix well. Especially, when the little lady has to go out at six-thirty in the morning, totally dark, and scrape ice and snow from the car before she can drive it.

I guessed wrong about his marital status. But I KNOW I was right on about cars parked outside in the winter in Minnesota. I was born and raised there. When I was forty-five I left for the warmer climes of California. Since 2000 I have domiciled in Florida.

That was my ex. She and I crashed on my BSA in 1973 and she made me sell all the bikes and never own one again. I was young and stupid and went along with it. I had to build a garage so her car was inside. Mine sat outside.

My fiance' doesn't care if the car is outside and she has to scrape ice or snow off to get to work...although her Firebird Formula has to have a stall in the garage :-)
