Technical Details on the New FullAuto Commando Cylinder Head from STS, in the US.

I'm afraid that you people treat me as if I know something. I looked at the problems, took advice from people with far more knowledge than me and then made decisions accordingly. Changes were made as issues became known. On the whole, I am very happy with the product and its' reputation worldwide. I am very sorry that I dealt with certain people including a particular narcissist who I dealt with for far too long, who stole from me, lied extensively to me and generally turned as many people against me as he could. Because that's what narcissists do. I have never done anything about it because it's not worth the trouble. Hi Ben ! I have suffered multiple strokes recently and I am a bit wobbly on my feet. Cognitively I still consider myself more able than Joe Biden, Ahem. Subject to change.

Just remember, Ken, that most of us are extremely grateful to you for all the work you put in to make Fullauto heads happen. And I'm pretty sure most of us realize that it was a labor of love. I'd be really surprised if you made a profit anywhere near reasonable for all the money and time you put into the effort.

And like many of us, I also appreciate all the effort on the part of John and STS to update the design and make them available at a reasonable price.

I am totally happy with your FA CNC head. It kicks ass! Well done mate, and wish you the best for your recovery.

So, I think maybe I've figured out where my confusion came from over Ken saying the original Fullauto heads were cast in 6061. In Australia there is a cast aluminum spec called AS6061, that is very similar to the US alloy A356 (or the British LM25). It is not the 6061 alloy most of us think of when using that designation. We are referring to the internationally recognized Aluminum Association standard for wrought plate, sheet, bar, and tube that is in common use for fabricated parts throughout the world.

The composite type does seem to have more success, however when they blow it tends to be quite magnificent. The copper gaskets just bubble and ooze away but the bike still runs.
Judging by the Maney 1007 result, I'll never get a perfect seal.
I might try Cometic for a custom gasket.
I wonder if the old spigotted cylinders (-> 1966.2) provided better working conditions for the head gasket at equal compression ratios?
It's worth noting that all the big british singles including the last BSA B50 featured spigotted barrels.

Australia may have some standardized casting alloys unknown to most of us. If standardized, they are listed in AS 18742000. Australian Standard™. Aluminium and aluminium alloys—Ingots and castings.

(AS is an abbreviation for Australian Standard, and I doubt the correct designation is AS6061 if in fact they have an alloy which deviates from 6061 as per ISO standard 209. Same name and two compositions would be rather confusing.)

Alternatively, the foundry may have cast the FA cylinder heads in a proprietary or foreign alloy composition.

Addendum: The australian version of US Aluminum Association A356 is "AA601" as per AS 1874.

Easy enough to see how that could get called 6061 by mistake.

What the hell does President Biden have to do with this? That's a pretty low blow in my book.

Well said, Ken. These are my thoughts exactly, and I extend my thanks to (Australian) Ken for all his vision and work also. Although I never held an Australian Fullauto head in my hand, it was easy to see the detailed improvements and good decisions that went into the design. John has put tremendous expense and time into his update (in large part to meet US production standards, but also to fix some of the issues that Ken described caused by "people who should have known better" letting his project down) but we should never forget that the original concept and excellent foundational steps came from Fullauto in Australia, and Ken deserves thanks from everyone who wants to see Commandos supported and advanced in future years.

As all heads create the power/torque for our engines, does anyone know what power/torque a new STS 850 head would produce bolted onto a standard engine in very good condition. Is there any flow data available?
Regards Mike
