Re: Norton commando 850 interstade

Hello Guillermo, Looks like you got a good solid bike there! Is the gas tank steel or fiberglass? Welcome to the forum. Lots of good people here who will share their knowledge. Cj

Re: Norton commando 850 interstade

it should be steel as the last of the fiberglass tanks was 1972.

I already check is 1975 , the gas tank is steel

thanks!!

Obviously there probably aren't a lot of Norton parts dealers in Costa Rica. From which country is it easier for you to order parts from, US or England?

Re: Norton commando 850 interstade

The finned valve covers are an aftermarket item, good to have, finned to aid in cooling however just how effective they are is debatable, the Norton head runs pretty hot though and since you've got them, all the better! They'll look great when you get a ice polish job done on them :)

oops, I should have previewed the last post .....I meant Nice polish job. Cj

Hi Guillermo

There is also a good supplier in Ontario, Canada.

They are not too hard to find. Look for a set of old dirty ones for cheap. They will clean up like new.

Guillermo,

I'm in Costa Rica now for a few more days and have not seen any bikes but Honda 125 singles. Your Commando must be very rare in CR. It looks like it will clean up very nicely. Good luck with it.

In Guanacaste, until Saturday, then back to Austin. I keep thinking about how much fun it would be to ride my Norton around here. Speed limit seems to be around 60 - 80 KPH, but I haven't seen any Policia.
