Oh ya?

Here's one for you and your sack of shit MKIII.

New MkIII In The Family

I like that one.
I'll show that to Jenny next time she tells me I have wee'd all over the toilet seat again.

I'm thinking……….maybe not.

Jenny and I will be travelling to the States maybe later this year, maybe early next year. England also.
Must catch up with you and many others. And same in England.

Michael had a Russian thing called a Voskod. It measured speed in kilometres per yak. He later became a Communist.

I have no photos of the butchered Atlas. I think we had already buried it in the backyard!
My wifey wanted to know what was so funny; she just doesn't understand...

You explain it to her please Nater.
Jenny has just found a use for my discarded old rear chain.
She has put a handle on it too.
So I am not doing a lot of laughing just now!!

But true. Michael became a Communist (I think he always was, a closet one).
His father was an ex Battle Of Britain Spitfire Pilot. Very strange fellow.
Said very little and kept to himself. Extremely pro British motorbikes but
bought the Voskod for Michael and his brothers to ride. The whole family were
like the offset rear wheel on a Commando. But they were left of centre. VERY left
of centre. Their cousin turned up one day on a Royal Enfield Interceptor. Very
impressive piece of gear. Between it and the Atlas they shattered every window in the street!

When John never phones me I know he must be happy.
Or his wife Sandy has killed him.
She and Jenny have been nominated for "Endurance Award Of The Century"

But he has certainly picked up a very very impressive machine. Forced upon him as it was
by his big brother. I really can't fault it in anyway. And it rides superlatively.

And I am very very happy with mine.
You don't think?

Baxter's are preparing to build my second one. A BRG MkIII Fastback.
The core bike has arrived in the workshop and Fastback body work sourced.

What do you fancy today Jen? Red or green?
I think you look nice on either.

New MkIII In The Family

Very very nice Time.
I see the rear reflectors on your Fastback are the later versions. The older style with chrome rims became extremely hard to find. Impossible to find in fact. They may now be back in production I don't know (nor care really - a reflector is a reflector) but I was curious because mine turned up with them.

Thanks for the pics

Phil, what can I say. I'm so proud of you.
Jenny looks like a "j"em. Tell her I said hi.

What a great looking bike. WOW. As far as the color, again, WOW.

Phil Yates, You are the man. Bravo!

One more question. What is your general locality.

Now let's get going on that avitar.

I phoned Jenny and asked, what the hell is an avatar?
She said it was a movie, knucklehead.
This didn't make sense so I thought I would not ask the
stupid question in here. But now I see the light.
A red Norton, just like yours to keep you smiling.
But yours doesn't have a head on it.
Are you hiding something from us?

OK, here's the flavor of the day. Click to enlarge.

Hmmm
At a glance:
MkIII front fender
MkIII seat (appears)
MkIII brake position
850 instrument cases

I knew you were hiding something!
And NO rider to be seen!!!

But yes, a very nice machine Pete.

Do the holes in the primary let the oil in, or out?
Or are you running a furry belt in there?
Now is the time to be honest with us Pete.

I will mail you my MkIII parts book (copy of)
So you can keep on building.
Do not give up, it is nearly a MkIII.

I can let you off the hook on one point only.
Just after the combat disaster, further detuned 750's were produced
and they had black instrument cases. These cases remained for the rest of
the commandos life, as you would no.
I don't believe they were ever fitted to a combat. But L.A.B. might have
better records than me on that.

You don't glance so good, wrong on all point. Yes, the bike exsists, I don't. If anything is original to this bike it is the fender and clock cases. Maybe 850 seat but no hinge for sure.

Yes, a am affriad I need to be honset with you now, I have a belt drive and i like to offer it extra cooling.
There, now you know, please don't tell anyone.

Please don't send any book, I can;t read.

My bike is not a Combat. Neither my previous cases 200xxx nor my current cases 210xxx, nor my frame 149xxx had anything to do with Combat. I used to have a Combat head but it is gone now.

But make no mistake, the head, carb, cam, pipes and many other things are far from stock and very little if anything is original to each other. I call it a Combat Hybrid and it is a toasty ride.

But this is common knowledge and news only to you. Give yourself some time to catch up before taking the lead there chief.

Then perhaps you need change to change your signature. You purport to have something to do with a 72 red combat.
What have you done with the front supports of your "750" front fender?
72's had a chromed steel fender. Yours is stainless steel but the change occurred in 72.

Seat cover pattern (as I can see is 850 pattern).
850 seat became hinged with MkIII only.
Brake position is "definitely" MkIII left side.
On the bottom of the black clock cases, 850's had a tiny SI embossed.
Check to see what you have got. I can tell you what SI means but you will have to ask.

I might know nothing about forum outboxes.
But you know nothing about Commandos.
And I don't think you should be allowed to ride one.
Seems from the photos (always minus pete), you don't.

And you can't spell either.
Grammar is atrocious, bettered only by Hobot.

Get your act together boyo, this is supposed to be a classy forum!!

I purport to have a "Combat Hybrid". TOTALLY different.

phil yates said:

I took it off for the aftermarket RGM front brake kit.

I have a 72, for the most part.

It's after market.

I have no hinge.

Yes but caliper is forward.

Mine don't.

A combat with no combat head?
Have you plugged the holes in your fender?
Or do the they cool the front tyre, like your primary belt drive?
You have a 73 fender,or later. S/S cross section was changed, and wider.
All replaced seat covers are aftermarket. Originals ceased in late 70's.
Brake calliper is forward on MkIII too.
Embossed SI is on inner side of clock cases. You can't just look at the outside.

But spelling and grammar are improving.
There is progress.
