Yeah - the word seems to be that the frames produced in-house had matching #s. but the 'F' frames were outsourced to Italy and so are a completely different numbering scheme (and of metric-sized tubing).

Well, things are progressing. Just got the motor back last night. Ended up needing .20 over pistons as the cylinders were pitted from corrosion. Also got new valves and guides. That plus hydrohoning the heads and cases and some polishing and the way-back machine has re-arrived in 1974!

I highly doubt this being the correct "word".
Are you claiming all 73, 74 and 75 norton frames were all Verlicchi made?
From the beginning of the #850F frame markings in 73 and 74 model year the frame number never matched the VIN...they (almost) all had "F" despite the imperial or metric/italian tubing being used, the frame # did not assimilate the VIN until almost the end of MKIII production....june of 75.

True, I wasn't there but I guess it would take copies of norton contracts with Verlicchi to convince me otherwise.

I was not claiming anything nor was I trying to convince anyone of anything, I was attempting to summarize something which I had come across. If you read back a few posts, rather than making derogatory remarks vis-a-vis my phrasing, you'll see the link to a page listing frame numbers. The author (who I believe is you) was trying to get the #s sorted out, and it was from this I based my statement. Obviously it is my interpretation that is at fault.
