Tried out my new helmet for the first time yesterday. My Suomy was so old, the kid at A&S said he'd never seen one before, I was too ashamed to tell him he was probably a toddler when I bought it...
Anyway, I usually research everything like this to death, but this time just went out and pulled the trigger after seeing what kind of money they wanted for the Shoei next to this new one. After getting home with it, I see it gets pretty good reviews. And the ride confirmed some of what was said by others. Plenty of venting, which is important in Sacramento. Fits great, less noise, very good field of vision, much lighter and slightly smaller, too!

Pretty much like mine except in really warm weather and at stops I like the whole flip up front kind which can also just flip up visor, to get some cooling air and speak to people easier and put on/off. Newer helmets are all thicker more massive looking than vintage which is safer but more clunky is all. I've been through 4 since 1st Cdo in 1999 d/t too many damages on then til couldn't repair again protecting my top knot and movie star looks : ( Keep it pretty a long time eh.

I’m a Shoei man myself. I had a similar story, I went to get a new helmet and none of the Shoei’s had the quick release buckle like my old one (D rings seem so clumsy after being used to a buckle). So I asked the kid about buckles.
The kid said “Shoei don’t use buckles”.
“When did they stop”? I asked.
“Shoei have never used buckles” said he.
I was in the car, sans lid, so couldn’t show him, and like you, I just could be bothered to explain that he was still in nappies (diapers) when I bough it!

Anyway... COOL stickers !!
