New forum observations thread

Seems to be a large portion of NZers riding their bikes on KAPITI ISLAND:)

Can't find if this has been asked before. I have a number of "bookmarks" saved on my computer to the older forums threads that I thought would be helpful down the road. Now when I click on them I get this forum but with an error message. Is there a way to convert or use those older bookmarks so they would go to that thread in the new version forum?
Thank you.

I'm starting to see some dashes in the "Replies" and "Views" stats fields, even though there are obviously replies to the original post. Have you seen this?

Do you also see a small blue 'Redirect' arrow next to the Replies/views fields with the dashes (Facebook thread for instance) as it indicates the thread has been moved to another forum section, in this instance the Facebook thread has been moved to the Pub section as it's not exactly a 'Classic Commando' topic.

New forum observations thread

The redirect in the original forum section is usually set to disappear after a certain time (e.g. 24 hours).

Forum upgraded tedious geeky nerd efficient program, still can not search posted text, only head lines, book cover, which don't often match the actual sought helpful on point content, so better to google search with accessnorton plus the subject terms interested in. A Whole Lot Better! and not at t'all confused by moderator moving it around for political correctness.

A question for forum members...
(Especially Jerry and L.A.B.)
When posting photos, what do you prefer - full size images or thumbnails (that you have to click on to view - unless your eyes are much, much better than mine)?
Cheers
Rob

Hi Rob,

If the image is less than 1000 pixels wide i prefer the full image. You can also add images to your gallery and embed a link from there,

Hope that answers it

Jerry

Thank you. I've found another dead link.

I think all the pre-upgrade links to previous posts are dead.

FYI, L.A.B.'s recent post about the PhotoBucket Embedded Image Fix add on for Firefox allows you to see all those blocked PhotoBucket photos :D I installed it and now I'm a happy camper. You should add his post to the FAQ or make it a sticky. He also lists a similar add on for Chrome.

They have been mentioned a few times in other threads but I will add them to the tech. sticky for now. :)

Les you are right. Most of the internal links from the old forum are broken. I am trying to fix them as I see them. Sometimes its tough to find where they are supposed to link to. I have fixed the ones you mentioned.

is there a reason why when I click on some links or photos all I get is a blank screen??

Jerry,

Don't know what your skill set is with computer stuff, but I believe I can easily find and generate a list of all broken links for you -- from all posts since the beginning of accessnorton.com, and then "possibly" create a joined/linked list of the renamed/working html links, and then (more unlikely) help you create an externally run script to correct the broken links, or (even more unlikely) create an SQL script to edit and correct the links in the posts.

I visited the XenForo forum (I've never used XenForo before), and I am assuming that the forum runs on MySQL, and that as a user you would be able to make queries to the database structure.

You can give me a call if you want. four, two, 5, 4,8-6----six--zero---four----zero. Call anytime.

And I wish you would get your GoPro going again. Really enjoyed the sound on your (much too short) MKIII video, when it was painted red, white, and blue.
