Hi All. I have a Shoei xr 1000 helmet that is very comfortable, however when riding my Norvil I find that I am looking between the top of the pinlock visor & the top of the helmet aperture(about 1/2"!) not good!

Can anyone of you cafe racers out there give your views on what works for you?

Thanks in advance, Paul

The only time I've had that situation was when I was forced to borrow a helmet that was to big.. Sometimes people buy helmets that are comfortable when new and when they break in they are to loose. They should be a little uncomfortabley snug at first.

I wore XL helmets for years so they wouldn't be too tight at the temples, but Shoeis were always loose front-to-back and needed extra padding on top to keep it from riding too low at the brow. I had an XL Arai RX-7 Corsair (crashed) that was better, but it also needed extra padding at the crown. I just purchased an Arai Corsair V, size large. All I had to do was shave down the cheek pad foam (could have purchased thinner cheek pads). The Corsair is more of a round shape than other lids and fits my weirdly-shaped head very well. I'll save the XL Shoei Qwest for cold weather when I can wear a thicker helmet liner. I never wear a helmet bare. I normally use a Slik satin helmet liner to ease removing and putting on the helmets and keeping my earbuds in place. Looks like a village idiot hat, but who cares? It's all about comfort when riding.
