Hi
Am dealing with mounting a new undrilled rear mudguard for a 67 N15CS. I have attached several photos of how I think it should be.
Question one: Should it have a clearance cutout for the swing arm on the right side? I have seen photos with and without such a cutout.
Question two. is there supposed to be a u shaped clamp in the center of the mudguard (see photo with blue tape representing the clamp).
The parts book calls out a clamp and packing and fasteners Clamp #029814, packing #029849. Is my assumption correct?

Question Three: Should the mudguard mounting fasteners and tail light fasteners be low domed headed fasteners?

Thanks

Mark

I am the second owner of a 68 N15cs and have no reason to believe mine is not original fitment so here are my best answers:

1- No (Also see front mounting bracket in picture)

2-Yes

3-Yes (Mine are original but recently chromed)

I agree with Matt.
I have a late 67 G15CS (distributor and concentrics).

The only notch should be on the front left (drive) side to clear the chain guard. Front bolts to the frame via the J-shaped bracket shown in Matt's pick
U-clamp mounting the fender near the top to the rear frame crossmember
Back bolts to the frame rear loop through 2 tabs on the loop.

Other holes in the fender are those to mount the taillight/license bracket (with a hole for the wiring) and one for the rear tab on the seat to secure the rear of the seat to the fender.

First, thanks for the replies and support.
Some more questions.
Would someone supply the measurement from the rear loop to the end of the rear mudguard and or if possible the measurement from the front end of the mudguard to the hole for the J bracket.
Also a question about seat mounting. The seat I have received has mounting points that look like they would have holes through the mudguard. The old mudguard appears to match the new one for curve and size, and there are holes that would match where the seat mount bolts would attach. Would seem to be a real PITA to take on and off.
Please see photos.

Rear of mudguard, showing towards the very end of the mudguard the two holes for the rear loop. The distance from that hole or the loop itself to the end of the mudguard is what i am wishing to confirm.

It is starting to appear that the old guard is reasonably proper for the basic mount points.

Thanks in advance

If you have an early 67, then the seat would likely be different from my late 67 and Matt's 68.

Mine has a single tab sticking out the back of the seat. The seat is covered differently from 66 and earlier seats, which had a cover with white piping around the top.

My G80 has the two studs in the rear of the set pan that go through the fender. Being a G80CS with alloy fender, there is a reinforcing gusset at this location. Looks like you have the earlier seat (with white piping around the seat top). If your serial number is lower than 121000, that seat should be correct. (I think they used those seats until they ran the stock out, then switched to the new style)

Why don't you locate the front hole on the new fender, mount it to the J-bracket and use this to locate the rest of the holes?

HI
This is a photo of the motorcycle as received.

As such I have been hesitant to use existing holes to locate the mudguards. So I have been following the rule of check twice and drill once.
The existing hole for the J bracket is 1.5" from the bottom of the front of the mudguard. Is anyone able to confirm that matches theirs?
Thanks
