Here's one for ya.
Trim it down, screw it on and head on down the road.

CLASSY!

Carry on the theme - mask off and paint the center hub of the front brake disc.

Looking mighty fine.

Ehhh... That could look OK, but I'm not sure I'll end up doing it. The front hub cleaned up quite nicely. I really only painted things black that were otherwise not very nice-looking. Idk; I guess we'll see how we do it once we start tearing down the front end (soon).

Thanks for the compliment. I'm pleased with the general direction it's taken. :)

Paul's right. That would look great with the rear brake.

Are you talking about the rotor or the hub itself? And which side--or are you talking about both? Maybe I'm not picturing it correctly.

Wouldn't it be really difficult to (cleanly) paint the hub with the wheel already laced up?

Not hub, brake disk center. It's silver now.

The look doesn't do much for me, but that doesn't mean much. I love the black accents on my bike but I'm sure there are people on this board who think they look atrocious. Oh well!

I remember seeing that red bike once here in Illinois. The owner came to one of our CNOC bike shows. He then asked if we would help him sell it. Glad to see it has a good home now.
While I like your tailight is the license plate going to fit?

I wonder if it was the guy I bought it from or the original owner? The guy I bought it from didn't seem to know much about Nortons (seems to make sense since he dropped the bike off for a bunch of work at what I can only assume is a sub-par Honda shop) and I'm convinced he probably never even rode the bike considering just how unsafe it really was.. The original owner put a metric f-ton of miles on it, so I'd be willing to bet it was him you saw at the CNOC show.

The plate should fit OK--I think. The bottom mounts appear sufficient enough to attach a plate.

Well, I haven't gotten a whole lot done lately I guess...

Found the chain was rubbing on the primary so we had to take everything back down, reshim, and put it back together again. Looks great now--no rubbing. The Primary is back together again.

I also came to the realization that my stock chainguard is a corroded piece of crap. Unfortunately, the PO decided it would be fine to run the battery overflow tube right down the middle of the bike so the top of the chainguard looks awful. I'm going to be replacing the chainguard, but I think I'm going to just steal the '70 style chainguard from the other bike instead of buying a new one. I really like the way it looks, so hopefully it's not beat to hell when I get it out of the bike. At first glance, it looks pretty decent.

My '73 850 rebuild..

The muffler mount plates also looked awful, so we ended up painting them black. They look much better now. The outer pieces which actually touch the mufflers look to have decent chrome so I'm hoping those will clean up well and won't need painted. The contrast between chrome and black should look decent.

I got my new side marker lights from Lockhart Phillips USA and I think they'll look really good once on the bike. Now the challenge becomes making them fit (front should be no problem--may have to extend the stems on the rears to clear the taillight housing with the way I intend to mount them).

Anyway, that's about it on the updates for now. The rear end is essentially done and we're getting close to moving on to breaking down the front.

Hi Jordan,

Could you tell me how the chrome boots on your rear shocks are fitted, I have them on my bike and they rattle quite badly when the bike is running.
