I spend a lot of time lurking on these forums. I picked up my 71 a few months ago as a complete basket case. Every time I have been stumped a quick search on here has gotten me back on the right track. I just thought I'd share a photo of my progress so far. At the moment I am trying to install the front brake stiffener kit. I needed new cams and pivot pins so this was a no brainer upgrade.

Welcome. There was another problem with the earlier commandos front brakes and that was the front brake light switch in the cable itself. Replacing the cable with a straight thru cable helped a bunch. However judging from your handle bars the original front brake cable is most likely long gone.

Best thing I ever did for my TLS was to arc the shoes and adjust the linkage correctly. I went from about 10% contact to 90%. Night and day.

I have all the original cables so I will look at what you were talking about with the switch.

I have to drill out the short pivot pin to replace it with the threaded pin for the plate. Has anyone done this? Did you use a press to install the new pin?
