Question: which damper on the Landsdown kit is the compression: the single hole or the multiple hole? I cannot find a marking on the dampers, the top adjuster nuts have a "C" on one and an "R" on the other.

Re: Lansdown Dampers

Not an expert but I would imagine the C is for Compression and the R is for Rebound

OK, I guess I didn't make the question clear enough. Which control rod/top nut combination goes in the damper with one hole at the bottom, and Which control rod/top nut combination goes in the damper with multiple holes at the bottom?
I am trying to find the post that John explained how to tell them apart.

Thanks

In the absence of a definitive answer...

Submerge the damper bodies in oil, operate the damper rod up n down and it should become apparent which is which (the compression damper will have resistance when pushing the rod down and the rebound damper will have resistance when pulling the rod up).

I think I know what you are asking.
Here is the answer I got from John.
"The Damper with 10 radial holes at the top is the "R" rebound side which as the longer needle, converse the 8 holes at the bottom is the compression side "C" and the shorter {15mm] needle fits that side.
John"

Damper with the holes on top, Rebound.
Damper with holes on the bottom, Compression.
I felt a little dull after his response. It made too much sense just looking at. Someone needed to wack me across the back of the head to get that "ah ha" moment

I asked him same question ... after about a year of use I decided to take a look and of course got them confused ... anyway I got same answer as above .... and I do believe they have improved my bike ...
