Hello,
I just wanted to introduce myself to the forum and thank you for the wealth of information I have already accessed.
A couple of months ago I was fortunate enough to meet an older gentlemen interested in selling his prized 1975 Norton 850 to the right buyer. He no longer rides but held on to the bike due to sentimentality and fear it would find its way into the hands of someone who would not appreciate it. Long story short, I bought it a couple of days ago and am extremely excited to bring it back to life. The bike has 3000 original miles, all original documents, equipment and shop manuals. It has sat in the previous owner's house since the mid 90's. I have a couple of other bikes and am an avid motorcyclist but has never brought anything larger than a vintage moped back to life. I have dreamt of having a vintage british twin for years and am excited to sift through the information here and get her back on the road right.
I will no doubt be seeking guidance in the coming weeks. Anyway, thank you for the add. I'm not sure how to add pics but if anyone can help me out, I'd be happy to share a photo or two.
Regards,
-lb

Welcome here !
There is a photo posting tutorial on the top of this page.
Basically, you post your pics to one of the free hosting sites - photobucket etc,
and then post the links to it on here so it displays.
Look forward to the pics.

Welcome to the forum!

A great resource for you will be www.oldbritts.com for the online parts book, and of course their great parts business. Fred is semi-retiring so they have shortened their work week and hours, but still a great resource.

Levi,
Welcome to the forum where info and some BS flows freely. You will find that being a VIP member makes posting pictures a lot easier, I know I did.

Where are you located? City and state ?

John in Texas

Welcome.

With an old well looked after low milage bike the rubber will still have decayed, so brake lines, tyres, seals etc will give you the most problems. The UV rays in the sunlight sunlight will have been working their magic all these years.

Welcome to the forum! Sounds like you got yourself a gem. I certainly have a soft spot in my heart for the mark 3 :D

Welcome Levi .... sounds like you got yourself a winner !!! enjoy

And don't forget the Isolastic mounts that sag and turn rock hard after sitting on the center stand for a few decades.
Ride On (your new Norton)

Levi,
Welcome to the forum. Like others stated above, put your general location in your profile for us to help you.
Cheers,
Thomas

Welcome Levi. I bought my first Norton a lifetime ago - last November. The need to strip it to the frame and make everything perfect is like hunger or gravity. I can't resist it. Maybe you can. Everyone here is great. Ben

Hello all and thank you for the warm welcome!
I am located in Joplin MO USA. Anyone in the area?
All very true with regards to seals and other rubber. I plan on replacing anything questionable as I bring her back to life. The previous owner, a brit bike enthusiast, ex-tourer and ex-racer, has graciously offered his assistance as well.
Thanks again for running such an informative and positive forum.
