Some might call it an appliance, but it's a hellish good appliance! Not many modern retro road bikes can actually lap the IOM faster than a Manx or even a modern day Super Manx clone.
With a fairing and ecu program change the 140 mph top speed moves up to 165 mph. I wonder what lap speed Steve Parrish would obtain with that version?

A performance cam , fairing, higher gearing and remove ecu restrictions 150 mph at 6900 feet is more than probably That same bike at sea level 160 mph plus is more than probable. All with a Thruxton R

There are old pilots, and there are bold pilots - but there are not many old bold pilots. The performance of the motorcycle might not be as important as expected, as long as it is safe. If a bike feels right, it tends to be faster. Barry Sheene refused to race on the IOM. A fairly stable but adequately-powered bike is probably needed - but how do you find out ?
How old is Steve Parrish ?

70.

I’m 70 as well but I sure can’t do this stuff- nor could I do it at 20 .
But maybe that’s why I made it to 70 …
There is probably some truth in that. Growing up I saw so many relatives basically stop living life at 40 and got old real fast. I decided if old age was coming for me it would have to catch me because I'm not waiting for it.

I might not make it to 90 or even 80 however I'll have an eventful life. Richard riding a motorcycle at almost 200 mph on the salt flats is like taking off into the clouds. The noise disappears and time slows down and is a surreal experience.

I'll bet you some of your buddies say the same thing about you.
