Well I received mine in five days from India to UK to start with.
It looked really good, with the only problem being a slight difference in the height of the boxy section where the front mounting studs go, easily remedied with an extra rubber washer one side. I pressure tested it today, and no leaks. The Ceandess flip top cap fits perfect (British) . All in all it's turned out good for me as I'd been looking for a British steel tank for a long timewith no luck (I'm not going to spend @500 + quid on a tank that might need repairs)
To my door it cost £175 , £125 for the tank and £50 p&p with no import costs.
To say I'm pleased is an understatement. The tank was bought via ebay from an oufit called Parts Paradise.

Sounds good.

I bought a replica tank from OldBritts when they first came out - the early, crappy Pakistani ones. Cost about $500 with a replica cap. Fixed the tank 4 times before it finally stopped leaking (I hope), painted it 3 times. If I'd paid a painter, I would have been out some serious money. All in all, that tank cost me about $800.

As former US Senator Dirksen is credited with saying, "A billion here, a billion there, pretty soon you're talking real money."

The cap looked worse than the original Ceandless, so it went in the spare parts box and the original sits on the bike now.

I believe Andover is working on new tanks. Pretty sure that regardless of where they are made they will be top notch.

Exactly how is your post about a featherbed tank bought from Enfield County relevant to my post about a Roadster tank bought from Parts Paradise ?

I suspect that some Indian tanks are junk and some are perfectly good. Chinese tools are the same way - I have experience with some that were trash and some that were far better than US -made tools at a similar price. The problem, of course is knowing which is which BEFORE you spend any money. :)

I have to say that I have learned recently that a US made item can match anybody as far as poor quality. The reality is that a US-made product of equal quality to a Chinese product is going to cost a lot more. There's nothing wrong with that but don't expect a product to be better just because it was made in the USA - I have found the opposite to be the case unless you are willing to pay Snap-On prices... ;)

My Indian tank was crap! If I ever need another tank I'll be getting on Evan Wilcox's waiting list. By the time my new Indian tank was fixed I had spent nearly $1,000.00 anyway! Glad you had a better experience than I did.

Indian Roadster Tanks -------- again

This post was started by Trident Sam to inform other members that a tank made in India and provided by a named supplier represented good value for money and good business practice. Thank you for this information Sam, this indicates that not all tanks from India are rubbish and by posting the names of the good suppliers as well as the bad ones from our collective experience it will help members in their quest for appropriate products to keep our bikes on the road. This is largely what the forum is about.

agreed 100%

I don't have endless resources for my equivalent of a mistress. So I have to buy imported stuff from all over the place, with almost no problems. And the bike is on the road, all the time. cheers, Don

If someone made an exact replica steel tank w/o issues that would be a god sent !
Norton is making them? Any idea where they are sourcing them from?

Seller's photo did not match item & refused me refund. Don't buy from this crook Buyer: williamj19482 ( 5479) 01-Feb-13 07:51

Buyers beware of this seller. Looks to be pretty shady.

Clearly this is all ZDF's fault. If he would only make some proper
steel Interstate tanks, these patterns POS would dry up.

....just kidding! :-) Looking forward to the day that you do come round
and make up a goodly batch.

Last word was that they were working on it.

I was tempted to get a steel one from PP, but apparently even the F/G repop ones don't work very good with the early style fork stops.
