I finally have 6000 miles on my 961

I wish the weather would warm up a bit more. My bike is cleaned and lubed , aired up , charged up and ready to ride . I put about 10 miles on this year so far .
Thanks, Tony, but you didn't have to go through updating for a few miles. Guess we're all a little bored. LOL Winter blues. And I thought Dhartwig sold his bike.

How was the ride, any stop offs for coffee? how does it sound with the decat and shorties

The ride was great, but a bit ‘fresh’!

I forgot that I’ve been meaning to buy some cold weather gloves for a while, I haven’t got any. So I went for quick ride in jeans and normal gloves.

Trouble is I got a bit carried away and did 120 miles.

What a great bike! The clip ons aren’t so bad once you get moving along, and when you hit some sweepers, the riding positions really clicks.

I really think I’m gonna gel with this bike. Beautiful, balanced mix of character and fabulous handling and braking performance. I’m still running in of course, so can’t enjoy the engine performance just yet.

But right now, I need a hot both coz I’m f***ing frozen t’ bone lad !!

120 miles. That's a nice clip in the cold. Way2go! Glad it was all good news. I did the same. Tee shirt, fabric work jacket, light jeans. Wee bit brisk for sure.

I'm jealous again, we got snow again this morning in NYC.
Enough already!

But you're absolutely right.
When the suspension is setup properly on the 961, the handling is marvelous.

Yeah, I think I need to do a little suspension tweaking. I’m not exactly a lightweight, but overall, the suspension is a tad firm. I’ll put some more miles on before I start fiddling though me thinks.

Quit your whining. You had 2 decent days this week. LOL

My front was good . its the rear that was too firm for me. My rear setting : Minimum compression , 25 clicks out rebound (not 18 like manual) . You have a dual seat so NO rings showing on spring pre load .(unless Norton went to a new lighter spring )

Just done 1600 miles France, Belgium, Holland, back to Belgium, Germany, Luxembourg, back to Germany, France and home. Only problem it wasn't on the Norton !!!! Maybe when the weather is better. PS Baden Baden to Frieburg is apparently one of the top ten roads in Europe to ride. Not in driving blizzards its not.

Another effin' snowstorm on the way here in NE. I just paid $30 to have the driveway to my shed cleared so I can bring my 850 Mk3 home from the shop tomorrow. Now all of my bikes will be locked in by snow by Saturday. :(

160 miles added today which puts me at 649 miles on the clock in just over a month on the road. Doesn't improve my ranking at all but..... I'm past 1st service now and the better weather surely is on it's way!

Couple of questions mate how long did the service take did they do everything you wanted and what pipes did you eventually go for.

I thought service was going to be an hour and a half but spent best part of 5 hours as they were pretty busy. Apart from the actual service I had 3 things for them to look at and only one of them taken care of so I guess I will just have to roll up my sleeves and tackle the other two myself. When I bought the bike I opted for the short decat set which they fitted today, the effect noise wise is dramatic but can't say I feel any change performance wise even with the remap. Fingers crossed the new map helps my hesitant starting, time will tell. I have been too knackered even to stop to look at the short pipes to see if it changes the look any, I will do that tomorrow :)

no pictures Mx tut tut
Photos were the last thing on my mind today. I was caught peering in through the glass at two road version of the V4's being built/tested when Simon (I am pretty sure it was Simon) came up the path and acknowledged that looking was ok but photo's were off limits :) I was treated to one of them being fired up, boy racer material in the making!

PS: You commented in an earlier post about the lack of onlookers gathering around our bikes.... well today I had every motorist on the A453/A46/A17 as audience, whether it be at a standstill at lights or hanging out the van windows at 70 on the carriageways, those short silencers really do turn heads hehehe

Well, I nearly pulled today on my 961. I stopped at some lights and got a lady cyclist admirer !!

Trouble was she was nearly as old as my Mum...

(No offence Mum... I didn’t mean it Mum... put the cane away Mum... ouch)!
