I hosed my bike down after the last wet ride and I think the small area of pitting on my rear rim is where the biked was left to drip dry and the salty water collected. I should have gone over with a blow dryer but hey ho, no different to my past 40 years cleaning habits lolQuite right. In reality though, unless you’re and OCD cleaner, you’ll most likely miss bits somewhere.
On a modern plastic bike it’s much less of an issue. But on a naked bike, made largely of steel and alloy, it’s tricky ensuring zero salt remnants.
I have already started to leave my marks on the tank and my seat has developed an area where I just know it will split in the next month or so..... come mid-Summer I will have a bike that really will look an unrestored example from the 70's
