Yes, the decat pipes and the shorties. I don't have a pic but they are the same as those that Nigel has been enjoying on his cafe. They don't quite kill the engine clatter but do a pretty good job at masking it.I can hear it . What system have you got on ? The Shorties ?
I have the de-cat pipes and loud reverse cones. Sound lovely, but the mechanical noise/clatter is still there. Do we know exactly what the clatter is? Maybe its not a valve style clatter, it sounds deeper. Does anyone know what it is, has anyone remedied it?
Sorry if I'm crossing topic boundaries.
I like the noise. Don't like it? Buy Japanese.
I hear ya, just going difficult to look retro with that engine. Thaiumph did a good job with that. Would be nice if Norton can too.Noise comes from Primary drive gears , clutch and valve train . If my bike hasn't been started in a month , oil drains out of lifters , push rods , and crank oil manifold into the sump . When first started , the oil pressure needs to build up again so I get a lifter clatter noise (very noticeable) . This lasts for 2 seconds or less and then quiets after oil fills them. This noise is there all the time when you are running the bike only subdued . Yes , This model needs to be air - cooled in my opinion . Let the 650 do water cooling high performance . The 650 engine noise should be much quieter too and the HP per CC will be right up there . And , if it is as light as they say " look out Thruxton R . " I hope Norton gets this right !
