The “Beast from the East” is thwarting attempts to climb up that mileage chart again for us Brits!

Old man winter is not cooperating here either.
Possible coastal storm on Wednesday.

manx has been putting those miles on though, must breed em tough up in Lincs.
I've been too busy cleaning the salt corrosion off my wheels from my earlier runs :(

Tomorrow is looking like a good 100mile blatt though and I get to use those extra 1k rpm's you promised :) Met says will be a warm 8degC but have to factor in the wind chill at 80mph (on the 'private' stretches of road)!

On the cusp of my first 1000 - I was fooled by a tiny glimmer of sun last Saturday so out I goes at -1C to try out my new Goldtop merino lined gauntlets but after 15 minutes down comes the snow and I found myself riding into a full blown blizzard. Considering I'm always worried about dropping it on damp roads I was not too happy.....

Never mind - Monday Tuesday commuting to work on it - so much better than the usual tedious train journey. Getting back into my old traffic weaving habits which are helped by my flick in/out bar end mirrors.

You have corrosion on your wheels already? Really?

If you take alloy out in the wet salt, it’s gonna corrode. Simple as that really.

I don't trust 'sunny days' this time of the year... but Spring is just around the corner then we can expect the monsoons lol

Yep, but to be expected here in the UK. Front wheel cleaned out spotless, rear wheel cleaned up but one part of the rim between 2 spokes has 7 or 8 small pits now. The chain rusted up pretty bad but the rest of the bike including engine cases look great. I didn't buy the bike to show and I never worry about keeping a bike looking perfect for it's next owner, I just ride and enjoy for as long as it keeps me smiling :)

373 miles on the odo now.... 4500rpm engine vibration is bad, this equates to approx. 75mph on the clock.... 65mph is just under 4k rpm and is quite smooth. Having 4500rpm through the gears is a big big plus :)

Hopefully, Spring is around the corner.
Today old man winter gave us the back of the hand on his way out.

Clean it off right away. I have a little pitting on the fins of the head. Front side. Missed a spot. Cable connections turned a little green from the copper washers. Hard to remember every detail. Bikes almost 5 years old now. I live near the sea and I get quite a bit of salt and snow too. I live about 20 miles from BritTwit. See photo. LOL

Quite right. In reality though, unless you’re and OCD cleaner, you’ll most likely miss bits somewhere.

On a modern plastic bike it’s much less of an issue. But on a naked bike, made largely of steel and alloy, it’s tricky ensuring zero salt remnants.

True. I'm not OCD, kind of wish I were, but when I consciously ride in salt, I'll hose down the rims and wipe down the details with the waterless spray wax. Takes a few minutes. Rather deal with water spots later on than corrosion. That said, love the build quality.
