Almost £3300 for a bike with no title documents! Not sure how they will get it on the road unless they already have a frame with a registration document but it's still a lot of money for a bitza. I suppose we will see it for sale again soon as an original with a previously blown engine..

I certainly wouldn't volunteer the information (that the original engine number was removed) to the authorities when attempting to institute a home built registration and title...

He says he bought the frame new but also says he has no documents at all. Anyone with a grain of intelligence would at least keep the bill of sale for the frame, surely? Very odd. Could be a stolen bike of course.

As Fred said, all anyone would need to do, would be to find another 850 frame or donor wreck with a V5C registration document. The bike could then be rebuilt onto the second frame or, a more unscrupulous person might simply transfer the certification plate or stamp the engine and frame to match the document and that would be it, job done, the bike suddenly has an identity and is worth another £2,000 and no need for any vehicle inspection-all for the price of a second frame which can be sold on without any document!
