About 5 years ago I was overtaking a cyclist on the wide part of the Corby bypass. Not over the speed limit. 2 lanes, I was in the RH lane. Just as I drew level he veered into my lane, running up to traffic lights. They were red. I was already slowing and slammed hard on my brakes and just avoided contact. At the lights, I stopped behind him and he threw his bike down on the road and started hitting my side window with his bike tyre pump. The lights changed. I stepped on the gas, misjudged it and rode over his rear wheel. I drove off. As he ran after me. Not sure what I could have done different (apart from missing his back wheel). Wasn't intentional though, it was a bit tight to get round him. I'm very wary of cyclists now..

Where I now live is near some holiday caravan parks. They've just lowered the speed limit from 40 to 30, to be safer for cyclists. This summer I came round a blind bend to be met by yoofs on 4 electric scooters, 4-abreast coming straight at me. I was stationery by the time they just missed me. They just carried on. All a game.

I'm hoping I get a 'grumpy old git' sweater for Christmas. :)

I wouldn't trust my life to a pilot light. Did that once and now walk with a limp... And got to restore my Norton for a second time...

This is about more than just being legal by running some sort of headlight. This is about being visible so that an assassin in a car doesn't end your life.

Glen summed it up perfectly - a good bright light gets you seen. And 30 watts means you don't even need a fancy alternator to run it. My Alton alternator is pretty anemic, and it keeps up just fine with this light.

Ultimately - it is your bike, your money, your life, and your choice. But when you find a good product at a great price, it is hard not to publicize it.

Not going to belabor this any further....

FWIW
...ok, I will.
HIGH (MAIN) BEAM in the daytime will help save your life.

Assassination attempts are greatly reduced.

It is not illegal, nor discourteous to run a bright light in daylight.

Dash cam.
To prove yourself innocent.
When one of the self absorbed Karens do that shit. God forbid, the day comes you can't avoid it.

There's all different types of cyclists some are ok
Others just seem to want to have a go at everyone
They can be a right pain riding two abreast and riding in groups
I give them as much space as I can
Having put in over 5,000 miles on a pedal bike over the last several years I do the same. Bicyclist share the same disrespect from cage (automobile) drivers as motorcyclist receive albeit at much slower closing speeds.

The real plague that is coming are the "E-bike" riders. No respect for anyone. They are the type just looking for the easy way to do things, no commitment whatsoever.
