Two things that I'm aware of from the Hurt Report that are now part of British motorcycle cop training are:
1. When approaching an intersection with waiting cars, weave from side to side (with lights on) in your lane. "
ABSOLUTELY! I've been doing this since I was a brand new rider (many, MANY years ago), coached by an old rider. Weaving a bit attracts the eye/attention better than anything else, INCLUDING a headlight. The relative motion of side to side movement of an oncoming vehicle is far more "visible" to the eye/brain than a straight path AND it is easier to pick up more accurate depth perception re distance. Many of the classic "left turn" accidents occur NOT because the oncoming motorcycle wasn't seen, but because a driver thought the moto was further away than it was.
The other accident avoiding thing I was taught back then was to watch the pertinent vehicle's front wheel, NOT the vehicle itself. Also, do not think that making "eye contact" with the driver means he/she sees you; it does not. WATCH the front wheel.
