I’m interested in switching from stock Lucas headlamp for Cyclops ultra led. I’m concerned with it not being compatible because of positive ground. I’ve read some older posts before the Cyclops Ultra came out that seemed to indicate the older models would work so I’m hoping I can make the Ultra work. I appreciate any help with this. I know there’s a huge knowledge base here.

You're going to have a polarity issue. You'll have to rewire the high/low beam switch to send ground (+) to either the low or high beam terminal instead of hot, and then connect hot (-) to the common on the LED bulb instead of ground. Watch that there are no shared connections or wiring with the headlight dip switch to the horn, signals etc. or it could get weird.

Thanks h. This is helpful.

Derek Wilson turned me on to a great one from evilbay that is not polarity conscious and affordable too .I love it . Bought a second one for my other build . Slightly blue tone / white , had to downpoint the headlight shell to stop drivers flashing me at night .

ALWAYS have had great parts and service from here. HIGHLY recommended.

Absolutely agreed.

Its a choice between buying from a knowledgeable person who has taken the time and effort to research well and select known products from known sources, and pay a little more for that as a customer.

Or buy some random shit off of eBay and risk it being substandard and satisfying yourself that it’s ‘good enough’ and you saved almost enough money to buy half a pint…

I have a Cyclops in my T140 (recommended by concours) and it’s awesome (in the English sense of the word, not in the American sense). But that is a negative earth, and I have zero appetite modifying the wiring on my positive earth bikes. So in those, I run bulbs from Paul Goff (norbsa) and am very happy with them / him.
