I want to remove and run without the fender-bridge on my '71, is it needed for bracing?

There's plenty of events of fenderless 750's in various types of racing on an off road so likely will not notice anything usual but maybe the muduard fatiques faster.

The bridge is not too pretty and my plan is to replace it with some Triton-style "Y" fender mounts while trying to get the fender to clear my tire/rim combo (WM3 with a 100/90X19 Roadrider).

As you say, plenty of Tritons et al seem to run like that without complaint...

What's not pretty? You can have your's chromed as below or you can also get bridge stays in stainless.

I am building this bike with cosmetics in mind and there are very few "non-curvy" things on it, I am trying to get away from anything "angular" (and the bike is ending up with no chrome on it also).

If you want a clean front end... You might want to check out the CNW front fender... It's neat and all in one piece... And looks great painted.

Ah, new school for an old school bike. Hopefully the old dog isn't too old to learn new tricks. :)

If I can find a tube-type or arch-type one, the Hyde seems next to impossible to get adjusted properly.
