Bolting a set of cases together today. I'm twisting the cam as I'm putting the bolts in and tightening them down. Everytime I tried to tighten the front bolts the cam would bind. This is a new cam so I took everything apart and put the old one back in. Same bind. After screwing with it for about two hours, I finally decided to tighten all the bolts completely and ignore the bind. Once the bolts were all completely tight the cam spun perfectly.

Walked the cases in.... I've had similar situations with other machinery.... God wills it.
It is frightening when it happens though. You can feel the ole ticker skipping a beat or three.

Completely to be expected. When the cam holes are bored, the cases are bolted together (of course) to ensure proper alignment. Expecting them to be aligned otherwise is not good practice.
