Just got this image from Martin Bernert in Valencia Spain who's bike shop was devistated by a recent flood.

"Unfortunately not only my 7 bikes, but also customers bikes of the NOC has been affected and I am now in a rush to open all engines and gearboxes, to drain water, mud etc and cleaning to save what is possible."

I'm sure he would appreciate any help in his cleanup/salvage recovery efforts. His email is martinbernert@gmail.com

That breaks my heart. (Edit) And 5 minutes later, my wife just walked up and saw the pictures and she said "that breaks my heart"
Amazing how we think alike.

A lot of work ahead.

Climate change is a disaster which is not waiting to happen. It is probably caused by poor emission control on motorcycles. Superpowers recognise indolence.
Aside from being off topic to this thread Al, (since it's not about whether or not climate change is responsible for this particular flood in Spain), not to mention how it's an insensitive thing to post and is of no use or comfort to Martin in this hour of need. Cj

I'm sure a fund raiser would help but I don't know how to set that up. I don't mind doing him a personal favor which should help a little.
In the US there is a website called GoFundMe, but this plight seems to be more interest to Europeans. I would call Andover Norton, maybe they have suggestions

Was also thinking about the UK N.O.C. …maybe a helping hand from them ?
I’ll mail my local Branch.

It's bad when floods hit without warning or time to move things, the pics coming on the news is so sad, in every country we have our natural disasters and lost, but its how we get up from them and how everyone gets together to help even strangers helping out to clean up the mess after, I am sure the bikes will survive over time, but recovery can be slow, I wish him well is all I can do.
Pressure clean and drain all fluids as soon as can be done, but I am sure there is more to do than just the bikes, I am glad I live on high ground as we suffered enough heavy rain/floods in our times.
I wish Martin a quick recovery.

Sorry to see this. I had to rescue a 1934 Rolls-Royce PII that had been in an underground garage that flooded, the water wasn't as dirty as this, but I drained all the fluids and the water, flushed the crankcase with kerosene, then refilled all fluids, cleaned the carb, dried the ignition and managed to drive the car out. I then drove the car for a week with a mixture of engine oil and ATF (which has high detergent properties) changing oil every day while decreasing the percentage of ATF. The car is still in service 25 years later. My point is that the water itself won't do any damage as long as it can be removed from the vehicle in a timely manner. Mud of course can be highly abrasive, so this needs to be addressed and at least some disassembly is probably required.

I know Pay pal can be used to send money all you need is the person to have a Pal Pay account and you send it to their E mail address. You should ask if Martin can get money that way.

Here a link to a video of the ordeal that struck Martin and his mates.
Martin was key in organising a fine INR rally in Tossa de Mar.
4 months later, disaster strikes..
