Oh and the banners will be back for non VIP members. Unfortunately it helps me keep this going. Every little bit helps. I hate banners, but have to do it.

One thing I notice is that it is a bit trickier to navigate on a mobile since there are no longer individual page number links, just previous/next buttons.

Tried that - didnt work on my Android

Edit - ok, that works. I was pressing/holding, and just clicking works.

Hi Jerry,

As ever, thanks for your hard work here sir.

Some small points that I’ve noticed, I tend to use an iPad, so am not sure if these points apply to all users:

1. The main text has gotten smaller, it seems that in shuffling things around, the main text that we read and write has been crunched. That’s less than ideal for ageing eyes!

2. The shaded identification of sticky threads has gone, this was useful as it told you where the main threads started. It’s quite pronounced in the 961 forum.

3. When in a thread, and scrolled down a bit, the title of the thread is not visible. This will no doubt fuel our tendency to ‘occasionally’ go off topic in threads... not something we need any encouragement with !!

Hi Jerry
I predominantly view the site on I pad, the font size has definitely decreased in size

Cool. One of the most user friendly sites on the web and you have managed to improve it !!!
Many thanks for your work over the years. One of the great tragedies of the Manx era is that the tuners and riders took their knowledge with them to the grave so its not really known how it was 'back in the day' . The knowledge base on here is formidable and people are happy to share. Great for novices starting out and will be a real resource for those wondering what owning and riding a commando was like back in the 20thcentury and the recent past.

YouTube movies are all fixed.

Possible Bug: I posted earlier today and the YouTube links seems to be broken.

Does that mean all YouTube links are broken?

I will take a look at this, but its not high priority at this point.

Hi Jerry,

Hi Nigel,

I was viewing it on my iPad last night and think it look much better. The right hand sidebar is not squished up on the right and is below. So much more responsive. Having said that:

I was already thinking about this. You will notice that there is a "Light Theme" available. I built that (still tweaking) because some users have a hard time seeing on the dark background. Once I get caught up here I will build another "Dark Theme" but with larger fonts so you will be able to select that in the future.

The shaded identification of sticky threads has gone, this was useful as it told you where the main threads started. It’s quite pronounced in the 961 forum.
I am already aware of this and it will be addressed in time.

I will see what I can do about this. I cannot remember how it was on the old forum. Not high priority, but on the list now.

Jerry

I have increased the font by 2 pts. Does it look OK to you now?

Please click the green tab at the bottom of the page and you can go to which ever page you want on the mobile view. I think its easier than before. See screen shot below.

Here you go: https://xenforo.com/community/threads/whats-new-in-xenforo-2-0.133426/

Please reference the above link. Its important to note that I did not want to do this upgrade. I am already too busy. I was being forced to do it due to security reasons. Now I have upgraded it, I am happy. I think its much better. Just a little tweaking.
From our standpoint it seemed pretty seamless. The other upgrade that broke all the legacy links was a little rough.

Thanks!

The only thing I miss is the little "go to first unread post" button when there's new content in a thread. I see that the thread title is bold instead, which is quite visible with the light theme but not with the classic white on black theme. I'll get used to the light screen I'm sure.

If you click on Forums > Find Threads> Unanswered threads is that what you are looking for?

No. Each thread used to have a button in the title block that would take you to the first unread post in that thread. If all posts had been read there'd be no button.

Please have a look on the right. "New Posts" will appear and you can select that at the forum level. Is this what you are looking for?
