Forum changes/ upgrades

Hello all,

I have to do some major forum updates and security updates. In fact, the forum has been rebuilt to accommodate the latest platform. I think that this will be version 5 of the access norton forum. I am afraid that means that the forum will be down for a few hours. I expect to get this done this week. You will see a "Down for maintenance" message while I perform these upgrades.

We can have some new and exciting things with the new forum. stay tuned.

I am not sure when I will be doing this. I have the new forum at a test domain and need to finish coding a few things. Possibly tomorrow or Friday depending on other work load. Hopefully it will only be down for 30 mins, but cant be sure so I am going with a few hours just in case.

Having thought about this, I think I can do the upgrade today. So stand by folks... Its going down shortly
 
Ok we are back. Please post away as normal. I will be tweaking things and adding things in the background over the next few days. Please post to this thread if you see anything unusual going on with this new forum.

Thanks Fred. I have some really cool things we can have that we didnt have before. I'll be gradually adding stuff.
 
Thanks very much for taking care of the forum , just having my first look and while different I seem to be able to navigate , so great job !!! thanks again my fave forum is even better !

I know about the logo on the mobile phone view and that will be fixed, before you notice its too small.
 
In the Light theme, the header, toolbar and menus are still dark. At least on my mobile.
 
Possible Bug: I posted earlier today and the YouTube links seems to be broken.

RGM Belt Drive

Decided to attempt to sort out my 850 MK1a Commando during the current enforced lock down period - it was a basket case rebuild. Fitted with an RGM belt drive which was purchased about 15 years or so ago - I lost interest in the rebuild for a long time. In total it’s done about 100 miles...

Hi Dave, thanks for letting me know. I have finished work now and am away from the computer. I will fix them all tomorrow. Let me know if you see anything else funky, other than what has been already noted,

No problem. It’s been a major upgrade. I have been preparing for a few weeks. I am sure there are lots of little things you will find. I will fix them one by one.

After I feel comfortable that the bugs are ironed out, then these things will be on the way:

1) A new area where members, probably only VIP, get a calendar to schedule their own events with rsvp, google map of event etc. In fact a calendar for anything they want.

2) The for sale forum is going to be replaced with a more sophisticated forum designed for that.
