Flyscreen or no flyscreen?

As per Mxmartins advice, I fitted tinted ones, they certainly help to reduce their obtrusiveness.

Hurray my anniversary cafe arrived today
No.8,in Manx silver

Shame the plastic clutch and brake fluid reservoirs stand out so much on such a gorgeous bike
Congrats and enjoy!

I wonder if all 50 of each of the anniversary models have been assigned new owners, I would imagine they have.

Congratulations on your new arrival! And well done for picking the best colour. Has it had the decat and remap done from new?

Regards,
Clive

I took fly screen off and went for a run today. The difference the wind blast makes is subtle and on a hot day like today the 'extra' breeze was most welcome so I think I will leave the screen off for the Summer, I much prefer the view from the cockpit without it.

Rob (at Norton) let me buy back the screen that was blemished so I will be scratching my head with a view to modifying it and see if I can come up with something that doesn't hide those shiny clock covers and chromed headlight shell.... more tinkering in the barn :)

Buy a spare headlamp bracket...
I note that the California model has no fly screen but uses same headlight mounting minus the fly screen bit, so could just get those. There was a red/white/blue California at factory getting it's first service. Bike looks pretty good in the flesh.

Sammy will be picking his up soon ish, I’m sure he’ll tell us all about it.

I’m surprised no one has ordered a CR in the Cali colour scheme !

I am interested in removing the flyscreen partly to see what it looks like and partly to install a flight deck with a bit of speed alert, satnav tech etc. behind it. Is it the same kind of mounting as mine with an intermediate plate with four hex bolts to the inside of the headlamp mount and two smaller to the screen? On my late 2017 I have the luxury gold sports front end rather than the utility black forks kludged on from a different model ;)

What I thought was to remanufacture the intermediate plate with slide-on elongated keyholes on 3 modified bolts with one screwdown retaining....

Clive, the Dommi headlight brackets and screen mount are one piece so the fly screen simply bolts to the headlight bracket with two small hex bolts either side. This does mean that once screen is removed this extra 'tang' on the headlight bracket is exposed but being polished ally it doesn't stand out in a big way but those with ocd like me would need to cut it off or re-used for some other purpose.

Ta muchly - project in the offing!

Fly screen gone (sort of, just a little smaller lol); Indicators gone (sort of, just a little smaller!)

Bloody hell Mark, Clem/Olivia will be right peeved with you after you just had your flyscreen changed and now you go and get the angle grinder to it. Very nice mod as usual, just that number plate is bugging me.

This screen was the 'blemished' one that Rob kindly allowed me to buy back. My number plate is smaller than legal but only by 1/2inch all round. Lincs Police are operating a 'stealth' team this year going around all the usual bike haunts specifically to check number plates and silencer db's so at moment I'm pleased that mine doesn't stand out, tricky keeping those short pipes quiet though :)

Sorry, just re-read the thread and saw that. Perfect solution, two different fly screens. They don't exactly protect you from midgeys too much though do they. I am in awe of your (and eddies stylish modifications). You are the stylistas of this forum

Can you tell us about the seat ?
The seat uses the same seat base/foam as standard but I had it tapered a little width wise at the front, being a little shorter than your average 961 rider my thighs were pushed out by the original seat so my feet were a bit tippy toed on the ground but my feet feel more secure now. Similarly the stretch to the bars mean't that my rump didn't make full use of the length of the seat so the added hump gives me a lot more support/comfort. The hump isn't naturally supported by the seat base so I have added a large velcro panel between the seat and the cowl to keep everything rigid. The seat was recovered by a local lad and is mostly a fine grained Scottish leather with a carbon fibre effect vinyl panel to the top. The design was the upholsterers idea and in hindsight I would have done it slightly different but I am pleased with the result.
